  • Patent number: 4921980
Abstract: A process for the preparation of N-alkylanilines is described, the most essential feature of which comprises reacting corresponding anilines at 150.degree. to 300.degree.C. with corresponding alcohols in the presence of a catalyst consisting of silica gel as carrier, of 0.2 to 10% of platinum and of 0.05 to 3% of a compound of a metal of the groups Ia and/or IIa of the Periodic Table, with the catalyst additionally containing at least one compound of an element of the groups Ib, IVa, IVb, Vb, VIIb and VIII in such an amount that the atomic ratio of platinum to the sum of these elements is 1 to 6.

  • Patent number: 4833255
Abstract: A process for the preparation of indoline without substantial formation of indole, comprises passing 2-(2-aminophenyl)ethanol, in a vapor phase and admixed with a carrier gas, at a temperature of from about 240.degree. to about 260.degree. C. over at least a catalytic amount of a metal silicate or aluminosilicate containing alkaline earth metal or rare earth metal ions. The carrier gas can be water in the form of steam. The passage of 2-(2-aminophenyl)ethanol over the catalyst can be periodically terminated and the catalyst reactivatd by passing a mixture of air and nitrogen over the catalyst at a temperature of from about 300.degree. to about 550.degree. C., after which the passage of 2-(2-aminophenyl)ethanol and carrier gas can be resumed.

  • Patent number: 4484992
Abstract: A process is described for the selective production of hydrogen by means of heterogeneous photoredox catalysis, in which mixtures of water and alkali metal sulfites or sulfides, alkaline earth metal sulfites or sulfides or ammonium sulfites or sulfides are reacted under the action of light in a suspension of a cadmium sulfide, cadmium sulfoselenide or titanium dioxide/semiconductor powder which is at least partially coated with Cu, Cr, Ni, Co or a noble metal or mixtures thereof. The catalysts which can be employed in this process (coated semiconductor powders) are in some cases novel.
