  • Patent number: 4854010
Abstract: A passenger door is connected to an aircraft fuselage by a hinge mechanism having an elongated goose-neck hinge member. One end of the hinge-member is pivotally connected to an idler crank arm that is pivotally connected to the fuselage. The other end of the goose-neck member is pivotally connected to the door. A guide arm connected to the door and carried by the idler crank arm controls door movement. An end of the guide arm has a pin that follows a groove in an "S"-shaped guide track. The shape of the track causes the guide arm to initially pivot and translate the door partially inwardly into the fuselage during opening movement, and then swing the door outwardly until it is parallel with the fuselage's outer surface.

  • Patent number: 4687162
Abstract: An adjustable support assembly for an aircraft leading edge guide track. The support assembly includes an upper portion pivotally connected to the guide track, and a threaded shaft having a rotatable member threadably engaged thereto which extends through the top of a trunnion housing. The rotatable member includes a shoulder portion which is disposed beneath the trunnion housing, and which is engaged by a wedge member therebelow to support the slat track via the shaft. Rotation of the rotatable member along the shaft adjusts the height of the guide track. The wedge member is supported by a horizontal shaft connected to the aircraft wing and to the housing. The wedge member includes opposing side portions which extend downwardly and inwardly, and which are engaged by complementary surfaces of locking tubes disposed about the horizontal shaft.

  • Patent number: 4395000
Abstract: A latch and lock mechanism for an aircraft cargo door assembly is disclosed. The mechanism is adapted to a cargo door assembly of the type having an outwardly opening, nonplug-type cargo ramp and an inwardly opening, plug-type cargo door hinged to opposite sides of a doorway so as to form a two-part closure member in coplanar alignment with the airplane fuselage when the door assembly is closed. The latch and lock mechanism preferably includes a plurality of latch units that secure the cargo ramp in its closed position. The latch units are connected through a cam-actuated interlock mechanism to the plug-type cargo door. The interlock mechanism is such that the cargo ramp latches can only be actuated when the cargo door is in an open position, and further such that the cargo door cannot be closed unless the cargo ramp latches are in a latched position.
