Publication number: 20110247651Abstract: The present invention is a device for use in cleaning a fabric surface of dust, dirt, pet hair and other debris present on the surface. The device includes a housing coupled to a base. The base is coupled to at least one movable cleaning member configured to engage a surface for picking up debris from the surface. The debris is deposited into a debris collection chamber by way of interaction with another portion of the device. The debris collection chamber is selectively emptiable by an operator thereof so that the device may be subsequently reused.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 5, 2011Publication date: October 13, 2011Inventors: Peter M. Patent number: 7356959Abstract: An authorization system for a firearm (10) includes an authorizing device (32) worn by the authorized user, and a firearm (10) with a fire control system, a computer controller (28), and a piezo-electric disabler (60). The computer controller (28) communicates with the authorizing device (32), and if no authorizing signal is received from the authorizing device, sends an electric output signal to the disabler (60) to prevent the fire control system from allowing the firearm to fire. The disabler, upon application of the electrical signal from the computer controller, cams the rearward moving trigger bar (52) of the fire control system clear of the hammer link (54) to disrupt the fire control system. Consequently, the firearm (10) will not fire.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2004Date of Patent: April 15, 2008Assignee: FN Herstal SAInventors: Edward P. Patent number: 6782652Abstract: A rail cover may be snapped on or off the side of Picatinny rail mounted to a weapon, such as a rifle. The rail cover protects the user from the teeth of the rail and from heat generated during repeated firing. The rail cover is readily installed or removed from the side, rather than being slipped over the end of the rail, by pressing it onto the rail or by prying it off the rail. The slightly flexible rail cover is preferably made of a polymer to which a rubberizing agent has been added and by forming grooves in its top surface. In addition to improving flexibility, the grooves also improve the user's grip on the rail cover. Locking tabs on the underside of the rail cover, dimensioned to fit in the grooves between adjacent teeth of the Picatinny rail, prevent axial movement of the rail cover when it is installed.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2003Date of Patent: August 31, 2004Inventor: Milton W. Patent number: 6185853Abstract: A speedloader for a shotgun having a tubular magazine includes an integral pulley system to minimize handle travel in delivering a plurality of cartridges into the magazine. The speedloader comprises a frame with a channel therethrough dimensioned to receive a plurality of cartridges. The frame carries a handle on an exterior longitudinal track and, inside, a pusher that travels from the first end of the frame to the second end of the frame in response to movement of the handle, thereby expelling the cartridges from the speedloader and injecting them into the magazine. The pulley system translates movement of the handle to movement of the pusher and reduces the distance the handle needs to be moved to move the pusher the full distance to reload the shotgun.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1999Date of Patent: February 13, 2001Assignee: FN Manufacturing Co IncInventors: Gary A Sniezak, Milton W Erickson, Zdenek Prisovsky

Patent number: 5669169Abstract: The present invention is a handgun having a polymeric frame with metallic rails that are inserted within the frame after the frame has been formed by a molding process. The rails are inserted into recesses formed in a channel within the frame, before the frame has completely cooled and contracted. The rails comprise a pair of front rails and a pair of rear rails. The rear pair of rails are positioned within rear recesses and held in place by the sear block. The front pair of rails are positioned within front recesses and held in place by a plurality of metallic parts. The parts include a horseshoe, an unlock block, and a spreader block that are positioned between and matingly engage the front rails, thus securing them within their respective recesses.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1996Date of Patent: September 23, 1997Assignee: FN Manufacturing, Inc.Inventors: Edward P. Schmitter, Harold L. Miller, Milton W. Erickson, Gerald A. Thoe

Patent number: 5392689Abstract: A recoil mechanism used to return the slide of a semi-automatic handgun back to its battery position after firing is provided having a recoil spring, a rod member and a discrete flange member. The rod and the flange member each of polymeric material have a flange at one end thereof which retain the recoil spring disposed therebetween. The recoil mechanism is assembled by coaxially fitting the recoil spring onto the rod and then snap fitting the flange member onto the one end of the rod.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 1994Date of Patent: February 28, 1995Assignee: Smith & Wesson Corp.Inventors: David J. Patent number: 4270824Abstract: An improved arc welding gun includes a quick connect connector, a differential taper cable clamp and an easily operated trigger locking assembly. The quick connect connector includes a current contacting pin which fits within a mating sleeve. The sleeve is provided with a pair of axial slits and is spring biased to firmly grip the contacting pin to provide a low resistance connection. Preferably, the connector is held together by a locking sleeve which can be either connected or disconnected with a fractional rotation of the locking ring. The cable clamp includes two clamping members which fit together to clamp the power conductors of a cable between inner and outer clamping surfaces. The inner and outer clamping surfaces are both conical and are provided with different tapers such that a narrow throat region is formed between the two clamping surfaces near the cable end of the clamp. This differential taper provides a low resistance and a secure grip on the power conductors.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1979Date of Patent: June 2, 1981Assignee: Dover CorporationInventor: Milton W. Patent number: 4250366Abstract: An improved modular trigger assembly for an arc welding gun includes a trigger housing pivotably mounted to a welding gun. A switch is mounted inside the trigger housing and is actuated by movement of the trigger housing. The trigger housing also includes a slideable locking crescent having a first end near a finger surface of the trigger housing. This locking crescent is so arranged that pressure on the first end surface serves both to depress the trigger and to lock the trigger in the depressed position.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1979Date of Patent: February 10, 1981Assignee: Dover CorporationInventors: Milton W.
