    Abstract: Methods for forming a dual-phase magnetic component from an initial component comprising a non-magnetic austenite composition are provided. The method may include: forming a coating on a portion of the surface of the initial component to form a masked area while leaving an unmasked area thereon. Thereafter the initial component may be heated to a treatment temperature such that nitrogen diffuses out of the unmasked area of the initial component to transform the non-magnetic austenite composition to a magnetic phase in the unmasked area. Thereafter, the initial component may be cooled from the treatment temperature to form a dual-phase magnetic component having a magnetic region corresponding to the unmasked area and a non-magnetic region corresponding to the masked area.

The first block is associated with a first block tree pattern defining a structure of splitting a block into smaller blocks. A bit string of bits for the first block tree pattern is included in an encoded bitstream. The method determines a location of the first block in the spatial region when the first block tree pattern of the first block can be reused for a second block tree pattern of a second block. The spatial region includes blocks and the location is based on the first block being in the spatial region. Information for the second block is included in the encoded bitstream that indicates the location of the first block in the spatial region. The location allows the bit string for the first block tree pattern to be retrieved for use to decode the second block.

    Abstract: A read head includes a permanent magnet (PM) layer formed up to 100 nm behind a free layer where PM layer magnetization may be initialized in a direction that adjusts free layer (FL) bias point, and shifts sensor asymmetry (Asym) closer to 0% for individual heads at slider or Head Gimbal Assembly level to provide a significant improvement in device yield. Asym is adjusted using different initialization schemes and initialization directions. With individual heads, initialization direction is selected based on a prior measurement of asymmetry. The PM layer is CoPt or CoCrPt and has coercivity from 500 Oersted to 1000 Oersted. The PM layer may have a width equal to the FL, or in another embodiment, the PM layer adjoins a backside of the top shield and has a width equal to or greater than that of the FL.

    Abstract: The invention provides a suspension modifier directly added into fracturing fluid for real-time proppant modification during fracturing and the application thereof, relating to the field of oil and gas production technologies. The suspension modifier is a controlled release nanoemulsion and comprises surface hydrophobic modifier, surfactant, cosurfactant and water. The suspension modifier is directly added into clear-water or active-water fracturing fluid while the proppant is added into water. After stirring, the suspension modifier is capable of self-assembling and being adsorbed on the proppant surface, so that the proppant surface becomes hydrophobic and aerophilic. The invention no longer requires the proppant to be pretreated, and the bubble-suspended proppant can be obtained directly by adding the suspension modifier to the clear-water or active-water fracturing fluid, and meanwhile adding the proppant to the fracturing fluid.
