  • Publication number: 20230228644
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to apparatus, systems, and methods for detection and differentiation of selected hydrocarbon gases in a target gas composition. The apparatus comprises a sensing unit; a housing comprising a first housing portion and a second housing portion, the first housing portion for receiving a linear actuator, the linear actuator operatively coupleable to the sensing unit proximal to the inlet, and the second housing portion for receiving at least a portion of the inlet end of the sensing unit and comprising at least one chamber and a closure member housed within the second housing portion and adjacent the inlet, the closure member actuatable between a closed state and an open state by the linear actuator; wherein the at least one chamber is in fluid communication with the inlet when the closure member is in the open state.

  • Publication number: 20180120278
Abstract: Provided is an apparatus for the detection of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) for biological analysis, environmental testing and analytical testing. The gas detection apparatus includes: a channel having an inner surface and having at least one opening, such that the channel is optionally in fluid communication with a sample gas, the inner surface having a coating comprising: a first layer comprising a non-reactive metal or non-reactive metalloid compound; a second layer comprising a moisture barrier with high porosity; and a gas sensor disposed within the channel. Embodiments described herein provide low cost and highly selective gas detectors.

  • Patent number: 9470681
Abstract: Apparatuses for determining whether a substance is carried in a fluid are disclosed. One such apparatus includes a body having: a plurality of spaced-apart capture surfaces configured to contact the fluid and capture the substance from the fluid; and a plurality of fluid guiding surfaces spaced apart by a predetermined distance from respective at least portions of respective ones of the plurality of capture surfaces. Another such apparatus includes: a fluid conduit to direct flow of the fluid; and at least one element removably positioned in the fluid conduit and having at least one capture surface configured to contact the fluid and capture the substance from the fluid.
