  • Publication number: 20070039954
Abstract: A connection device for use with a blast-resistant container comprises a frame with a recess, and a connecting member. An arcuate surface is formed on the outside of the opening of the recess. The connecting member is connected to the frame at one end with a head engaged in the recess and connected to a side panel at the other end. Thus, this connection device can transmit strong membrane force between each two panels of a container and meet the connection requirement of a blast-resistant container. When there is a blast, the connection device is able to confine the blast within the container in that the maximum strain of the plastic hinge in the connecting member can be controlled by the curvature of that arcuate surface formed on the frame.

  • Patent number: 7165484
Abstract: A blast-resistant cargo container includes side panels and connecting members. The connecting members are mounted between the adjacent side panels to create a frameless structure of the cargo container. Under ordinary conditions, the structure still has sufficient stiffness for loading goods. When an explosive blast occurs in the cargo container, the structure is flexible and utilizes membrane strength in the entire container structure, whereby the cargo container is capable of withstanding the explosive blast. Bottom perimeter bars are able to be mounted around a bottom surface of the cargo container. Grooves are defined in the perimeter bars and L-shaped flanges are formed on one end of the connecting members. Therefore, by receiving the L-shaped flanges into the grooves, the perimeter bars are securely connected with the side panels.

  • Publication number: 20060156445
Abstract: A tiny power-assembly device driven by rotatory molecular motors are disclosed. The molecular motor power-supplying device includes multiple connecting members, multiple upper rotating arms, multiple lower rotating arms and multiple rotatory molecular motors. The F1-ATPase is optioned as the sample molecular motor of this device and is located between the upper rotating arm and the lower rotating arm. Each molecular motor is connected with a lower rotating arm through the ?, ? subunits and connected with a lower rotating arm by the ? subunit. The molecular motor power-supplying device can be driven to shorter (connecting members closely) or longer (connecting members separated far away) by the accumulated driving forces from the rotatory molecular motors.

  • Publication number: 20060144556
Abstract: The invention provides a composition that significantly shortens the time necessary to produce a ceramic shell mold. The composition of the invention is used to produce a shell-mold for the investment casting process, providing decreased processing times by reducing the number of shell dips, and better handling and dewaxing through increased green strength. The invention provides a method of forming a shell mold, comprising providing an investment casting shell-mold composition comprising 0.1 to 70 percent by weight inorganic fibers, a binder composition comprising a mixture of 20-98 percent by weight of a colloidal sol comprising particles, and 1-20 percent by weight organic latex polymer.

  • Publication number: 20050189773
Abstract: A latch apparatus for a blast-resistant container, comprising a chain hook on an edge of the container, a hook seat on a sliding door, a base, a connecting piece, a latch and a nut. The latch has a curved surface next to the hook seat and a front plate with a wedge-shaped cross-section. When the latch is turned into a locked state, the curved surface and front plate thereof push a hook on the chain hook tightly into the hook seat, so that in the locked state the chain hook will not loosen and will expose only a short lever arm, providing improved protection from a blast.

  • Patent number: 6918501
Abstract: An strengthened door for an blast-resistant cargo container includes a door panel horizontally slidably mounted on the cargo container. The door panel has an upper side, a lower side, a first vertical side and a second vertical side each hooked on the cargo container to provide overlapping joints to effectively limit blast damage to the inside of the cargo container and prevent an aircraft from being damaged.

  • Publication number: 20030106414
Abstract: A blast-resistant cargo container includes side panels and connecting members. The connecting members are mounted between the adjacent side panels to create a non-framed structure of the cargo container. Under ordinary conditions, the structure still has sufficient stiffness for loading goods. When an explosive blast occurs in the cargo container, the structure is flexible and utilizes membrane strength in the entire container structure, whereby the cargo container is capable of withstanding the explosive blast. Extruded bars can also be mounted around a bottom surface of the cargo container grooves are defined in the extruded bars and L-shaped flanges are formed on edges of the vertical side panels. Therefore, by receiving the L-shaped flanges into the grooves, the extruded bars are securely connected with the side panels.
