  • Publication number: 20050157245
Abstract: A liquid crystal display (LCD) substrate and a fabrication method thereof are provided. The LCD substrate comprises a substrate, a spacer definition layer formed on the substrate comprising a first step, and a spacer formed along a profile of the first step of spacer definition layer and adjacent to the first step, thereby forming a second step on the spacer. • Publication number: 20050151900
Abstract: A liquid crystal display panel having a display area comprises a first substrate, a second substrate, a sealant, a liquid crystal layer, and a light-shielding layer. The sealant is disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The liquid crystal layer is disposed in a space defined by the first substrate, the second substrate and the sealant. The light shielding layer is disposed on a first outer surface of the first substrate or a second outer surface of the second substrate, wherein the light shielding layer and the display area are not overlapped. In addition, the liquid crystal display panel further comprises a protection layer. Since the protection layer encapsulates the light-shielding layer, out-diffusion of dye within the light-shielding layer is effectively prevented.

  • Publication number: 20050110915
Abstract: A pixel structure and repair method thereof. A through hole is formed in the common line. When the source/drain electrode of a thin film transistor is not electrically connected to a pixel electrode due to a polymer residue remaining in a contact hole, a first laser beam passes through the through hole to weld the source/drain electrode and the pixel electrode. The defective pixel can be thus repaired to display the original color. In addition, if the defective pixel fails due to a defective thin film transistor, the invention irradiates a second laser beam to sever the source/drain electrode such that the defective thin film transistor is not electrically connected to the pixel electrode. The defective pixel can be thus repaired to a dark point.

  • Publication number: 20050041194
Abstract: A liquid crystal display (LCD) having a narrow cell gap is produced by a one-drop fill (ODF) process. Openings are formed in the protection layer on a thin film transistor (TFT) array substrate. These openings are located on the corresponding positions of photoresist spacers and a photoresist guard ring on a color filter substrate to receive the photoresist spacers and the photoresist guard ring and allow them to be in contact with the TFT array substrate. Therefore, the poor display quality problem caused by the photoresist spacers and the photoresist guard ring with uneven heights can be resolved.

  • Publication number: 20040245523
Abstract: The present invention provides a circular thin film transistor structure that is located in the intersection of the gate line and the data line. A circular gate electrode is defined when forming the gate line. A circular source electrode and an annular drain electrode are defined when forming the data line. The circular source is located in the annular drain electrode. This structure can avoid the voltage value variation in the pixel region because of the misalignment between the source electrode and the gate electrode.

  • Publication number: 20040160405
Abstract: During a vertical scanning period, the potential of one of the two electrodes which LC capacitors connected to each scanning line have is changed, and meanwhile the potential of the other has a coupled voltage caused from the change. The pixel electrode connected to the other one electrode of the LC capacitor also has a potential change caused from the coupled voltage so that the coupled voltage is written into the LC capacitor to turn the pixel black. That is, during one vertical scanning period, each pixel turns true black or near black from a predetermined gradation. Therefore, the LCD panel can have a sharp image, and is suitable for displaying a fast continuous movement.
