  • Publication number: 20100221814
Abstract: For heating or cooling a sample contained in a vessel portion through a heat transfer member held in contact with the vessel portion, there is used the vessel portion, which has a part formed of an elastic member, expands and contracts for injection and discharge of the sample, is closed other than a connecting port with a channel connected to the vessel, and expands and contracts for injection and discharge of the sample. The vessel portion expands correspondingly to the injection when the sample is injected through an inflow path serving as the channel into the vessel portion contracting in a non-contacting state with the heat transfer member. A predetermined amount of sample is injected into the vessel portion so as to expand the vessel portion, and the vessel portion comes into contact with the heat transfer member. The vessel portion is heated or cooled through the heat transfer member.

  • Publication number: 20100023465
Abstract: A processing unit (2) of an active learning system calculates the degree of similarity of data for which the label value is unknown with respect to data for which the label value is known by using a first data selection section 26, and iterates at least on cycle of the active learning cycle that selects the data to be learned next based on the calculated degree of similarity, to thereby enable finding of the desired data needed for learning a rule more efficiently than a random selection. Thereafter, the processing unit (2) learns a rule based on the data for which the label value is known, and applies the learned rule to a set of unknown data for which the label value is unknown, to shift another active learning cycle that selects the data to be learned next.

  • Patent number: 7274016
Abstract: A liquid sample (104) introduced in a main flow passage (101) is held in a dam portion (105), and a trigger liquid (106) is filled in a trigger flow passage (102). In this state, the trigger liquid (106) is further introduced at desired timing into the trigger flow passage (102) so that the front end portion of the level of the trigger liquid (106) is advanced and the front end portion is brought to be into contact with the dam portion (105). This causes the liquid sample (104) to move to the right (downstream side) in the figure, resulting in the liquid sample (104) flowing out to the downstream side of the main flow passage (101). This means that the trigger liquid (106) provides priming to realize a liquid switch.

  • Publication number: 20070011127
Abstract: A learning data memory unit stores a set of learning data that are composed of a plurality of descriptors and a plurality of labels. When positive cases, in which the values of desired labels are desired values, are few in number or nonexistent in the learning data memory unit, a control unit rewrites the values of desired labels to values of other similar labels to generate provisional positive cases. An active learning unit uses the provisional positive cases and negative cases to learn rules, applies these learned rules to a set of candidate data that are stored in a candidate data memory unit in which desired labels are unknown to predict the resemblance of each item of candidate data to positive cases, and based on these prediction results, selects and supplies data that are to be learned next from an input/output device.

  • Publication number: 20060070951
Abstract: A particular component in a sample is recovered in a high concentration and solvent-replaced. A separator 100 is placed on a microchip and includes a channel 112 for flowing the particular component. The channel 112 includes a sample feeding channel 300 as well as a filtrate discharge channel 302 and a sample recovering part 308 which are branched from the sample feeding channel 300. There is formed a filter 304 for preventing passage of the particular component, at the inlet of the filtrate discharge channel 302 from the sample feeding channel 300. Furthermore, there is formed a damming area (hydrophobic area) 306 for preventing entering of a liquid sample while allowing for passage of the liquid sample by applying an external force equal to or larger than a given level, at the inlet of the sample recovering part 308 from the sample feeding channel 300.

  • Publication number: 20060063273
Abstract: Individual components are separated with a high concentration and accurately, from a sample containing components-to-be-separated. The separation apparatus includes a channel through which a sample containing components-to-be-separated moves; and gateway portions partitioning the separation channel into a plurality of compartments. The separation apparatus further includes an external force imposing unit, which imposes external force to the components-to-be-separated so as to allow them to move through the channel. The external force imposing unit is configured so as to alternately repeatedly execute a first external force imposing pattern by which the external force is imposed in the forward direction of the channel, and a second external force imposing pattern by which the external force is imposed in the direction opposite to the forward direction along the channel. This makes it possible to fractionate the components-to-be-separated into any of the compartments.

  • Publication number: 20060000772
Abstract: A channel (103) is formed in a substrate (101), and a portion of the channel (103) is provided with a separating portion (107). A number of pillars are formed in the separating portion (107), and an adsorptive substance layer having an adsorptive substance, which exhibits a specific interaction for a specific substance, immobilized on the surface thereof, is formed. Once a sample is introduced into the channel (103), the specific substance is adsorbed on the adsorptive substance layer to be separated from other components. After washing the inside of the channel (103) with a buffer solution, the specific substance is desorbed from the adsorptive substance layer by flowing a eluting solution through the channel (103) and the specific substance is recovered.

  • Publication number: 20040117348
Abstract: The method of displaying sequences of the present invention adds visual characteristics in accordance with the mutations and/or similarities in a plurality of similar nucleotide sequences or amino acid sequences. These visual characteristics are added to regions of mutation and/or regions of similarity, and further, are added in accordance with the degree of mutation and/or similarity and in accordance with the frequency of mutation in the regions of mutation. In addition, nucleotide sequences are converted to amino acid sequences, and the visual characteristics are added based on amino acid information that includes the names or properties of amino acids that correspond to codons of the regions of mutation. Links are provided to information that relates to a plurality of similar nucleotide sequences or amino acid sequences.
