  • Publication number: 20130059674
Abstract: A golf club grip system is presented comprised of golf club grips of identical weights regardless of their grip thickness. The identical weight may be maintained by altering the grip material compound, grip construction method, or by varying the length of the grip along the golf club shaft as the grip width is varied. A set of standardized grip widths is also presented that varies in increments of the thickness of duct tape, thus providing a standard method of adjusting the thickness of a golf club grip on a shaft. The system is designed to permit pre-manufactured golf club grips to be selected by grip thickness and feel, while remaining identically weighted to all other possible thicknesses. This uniform weighting removes the need to adjust club head weight or perform dynamic or static swing weighting after grip thickness is selected.

The identical weight may be maintained by altering the grip material compound, grip construction method, or by varying the length of the grip along the golf club shaft as the grip width is varied. A golf club grip system comprised of grips of varied sizes to fit the golfer correctly while allowing specific weights within that grip size to be selected as an aid to the club builder in matching components.

  • Patent number: 7621828
Abstract: A golf equipment fitting system that uses advanced technology to not only objectively identify the optimum equipment for the golfer, but to also identify and help correct swing flaws so that the golfer can achieve optimum performance on the golf course. Thus, in one embodiment, golf fitting includes collecting data related to the golfer's swing and determining if the golfer's swing technique should be modified based at least in part on the collected swing data. When it is determined that the golfer's swing technique should be modified, then providing swing instruction to the golfer. When, however, it is determined that the golfer's swing technique is fine, then collecting data related to how the golfer's swing launches a golf ball. Finally, golf equipment, e.g., golf clubs, can be specified based on the collected swing data and launch data.

  • Publication number: 20030148818
Abstract: A set of wood golf clubs have wood club heads with substantially the same external shape. The vertical centers of gravity of the wood club heads are varied by setting the weight within the respective soles and the crowns, while keeping the total weight of the wood club heads substantially constant. The wood club heads have no integral hosel. The wood club shafts are attached to the wood club heads by providing a bore in the wood club head sized to receive the wood club shaft therein, and a threaded fastener that engages the wood club shaft to the wood club head, when the wood club shaft is inserted into the bore. The wood club heads are desirably cast to shape, using casting cores that provide for the shifting of weight between the soles and the crowns within the set.
