  • Patent number: 6126274
Abstract: This invention provides a new and improved image-forming apparatus which is of relatively easy manufacture and which provides a clear, sharp image. This apparatus is an "ink jet" printer which utilizes a liquid dispersion of toner as the image-forming material. The liquid dispersant is dielectric relative to the toner particles. The toner particles agglomerate when placed under an electric charge and these agglomerated particles are ejected in accordance with an image signal. The toner forms an image on an image holder which is transferred to a recording medium such as paper. This invention has the provision for four-color printing.

  • Patent number: 5808638
Abstract: The recording head have a substrate and a plurality of ring-shaped recording electrodes juxtaposed on the substrate. A counter electrode is located above the recording electrodes and spaced apart therefrom by a predetermined distance. Each recording electrode consists of a ring and a lead. A pulse generator is connected by an IC (not shown) to the leads, for applying a drive voltage to each recording electrode. The drive voltage consists of a bias voltage and a recording voltage higher than the bias voltage. When a bias voltage, having the same polarity as a charged polarity of coloring particles dispersed in an insulating liquid, is applied to each recording electrode, potential wells are formed. The coloring particles in ink are thereby trapped in the ring of the electrodes. The coloring particles agglomerate in the apical part of the ink meniscus formed at the recording electrode. When the recording voltage, having the same polarity as a charged polarity of the coloring particles.

  • Patent number: 5424523
Abstract: With an automatic wicket apparatus, a commutation ticket is provided With a second record section for recording a character pattern corresponding to information for entrance or exit in the form of a magnetic latent image, besides a first record section for encoding and recording the information for entrance or exit. At the time of entrance, a character pattern including the date of entrance and entraining station name is recorded as a magnetic latent image in the second record section. At the time of exit, a character pattern including the date of exit and alighting station name is recorded as a magnetic latent image in the second record section. In case of suspicion, the character pattern in the form of a magnetic latent image in the second record section of the record medium is visualized by using a magnetic latent image-visible image conversion member.

  • Patent number: 5317370
Abstract: A transfer roller is provided near a developing roller which is set, at a relative speed of substantially zero, in contact with a photosensitive drum to develop an electrostatic latent image on the photosensitive drum into a visual image. A toner transfer roller supplies a toner, that is, a one-component developing agent which is stored in a toner storage section to the developing roller and receives that toner which is unspent upon development from the developing roller. The unspent toner transferred to the toner transfer roller is brought into abutting contact with a mesh network of a toner separating member to separate the toner from the toner transfer roller over a predetermined effective length. By so doing it is possible to erase a developing hysteresis from the developing roller and, at the same time, collect the toner back into the toner storage section so that the collected toner is mixed with a fresh toner for use at the next developing cycle.

  • Patent number: 5233395
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a transfer brush for transferring to a paper sheet a developed image on an photoconductive drum. The transfer brush is formed in a plate-like shape by a number of electroconductive fibers bundled together. The transfer brush has a contact portion set in elastic contact with the drum. The brush presses the paper sheet, which is fed by the feeding device, against the drum under a predetermined pressing force. A DC current supply applies voltage to the paper sheet through the transfer brush so as to electrostatically attract the developed image to the paper sheet. The transfer brush is inclined to the image carrier so as to allow the paper sheet to be guided into an area between the drum and the transfer brush.

  • Patent number: 4841335
Abstract: A recording apparatus having an operation panel for selecting a first mode for recording a color image or a second mode for recording a monochromatic image, and for selecting a color for the monochromatic image-recording. When the first mode is selected, a charger electrically charges a photosensitive drum. A latent image is formed and developed on the drum by an image-forming/developing unit, thereby forming a color toner image. A bias electric field is applied between the drum and a developing roller, whereby the toner from the roller is attracted to the drum and does not return to the roller. The latent image can thus be developed without contacting the drum or the coller. The color toner image is transferred to a transfer sheet by a transfer charger. When the second mode is selected, the charger electrically charges the drum. A latent image is formed and developed on the drum by image-forming/developing unit, thus forming a monochromatic image. An A.C.
