Patent number: 7633479Abstract: The first output buffer 22 of the driving LSI 20 outputs the first video signal voltage V and the second output buffer outputs the second video signal voltage *V with the opposite polarity from that of the first video signal voltage. The first and the second video signal voltages V, *V are fed to the drain driver 2 of the display panel 1 through a pair of signal wirings. The drain driver 2 supplies the first video signal voltage V to a pixel and the second video signal voltage with the opposite polarity to the pixel adjacent to the fist pixel through the drain line 5 and the TFT9. In this way, any pair of the adjacent pixels in horizontal and vertical direction receives the video signal voltages with opposite polarities from each other.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2005Date of Patent: December 15, 2009Assignee: Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd.Inventors: Mitsugu Kobayashi, Kenji Saiki, Seiji Matsuda

Patent number: 7295273Abstract: When the orientation of liquid crystal molecules in a pixel are divided by an orientation divider, a boundary of the orientation is produced at any part of the pixel. A drain signal line (54) is formed to overlap with the boundary so that a light-shielding region in the pixel is decreased and an aperture ratio can be improved. Leakage of light caused when the orientation is disturbed can be shielded by the drain signal line (54), and contrast can be enhanced. The orientation divider can be an orientation control window (36), an orientation control slope (90) or the like.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2006Date of Patent: November 13, 2007Assignee: Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd.Inventors: Ryuji Nishikawa, Yasushi Miyajima, Masayuki Koga, Mitsugu Kobayashi

Patent number: 7196701Abstract: A power supply circuit (300) for a display device such as a liquid crystal outputs a boosted supply voltage VDD2 during normal operation, and generates a non-boosted supply voltage VDD2 having a voltage lower than that during the normal display operation by controlling the switches for switching the output within the power supply circuit (300) during a power save mode. The non-boosted supply voltage is supplied to the analog circuits of a driving circuit (100) so that the power consumption at the analog circuits is reduced. By controlling the switch for switching the output within the power supply circuit and the supply of the power supply clock, the circuit can be switched, in the power save mode, to either a mode where a lower supply voltage is generated or to a mode where the power supply is turned off.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2001Date of Patent: March 27, 2007Assignee: Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yusuke Tsutsui, Makoto Kitagawa, Mitsugu Kobayashi, Hisao Uehara

Patent number: 7190381Abstract: A liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal panel, a DA converter for generating a common electrode signal to be applied to a common electrode of a liquid crystal, and a non-volatile memory for encoding an optimum value of the common electrode signal into an ID code and storing the ID code therein. The DA converter generates the optimum common electrode signal corresponding to the ID code read out from the non-volatile memory. A liquid crystal panel manufacturer ships the liquid crystal panel in which the optimum value of the common electrode signal is encoded into the ID code and stored in the non-volatile memory in an inspecting process. The assembling manufacturer using the liquid crystal panel can easily set the optimum value of the common electrode signal. Furthermore, the liquid crystal display device has a CPU decoding the ID code read out from the non-volatile memory. Alternatively, it is possible to supply a data of a value of the common electrode signal to a user of the liquid crystal.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2003Date of Patent: March 13, 2007Assignee: Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yusuke Tsutsui, Makoto Kitagawa, Mitsugu Kobayashi

Patent number: 7091946Abstract: A mask circuit is provided in a display device having a plurality of pixels. The mask circuit supplies a video signal to each of the pixels in a partial display area selected based on a display area selection signal, and prevents the supply of the video signal to each of the pixels in a background display area. Accordingly, this display device displays an arbitrary pattern at an arbitrary position of the display panel of the display device. In addition, an inverting controlling circuit is provided for inverting the background display signal supplied to each of the pixels in the background display area for each frame. The power consumption of the display device can be reduced.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2003Date of Patent: August 15, 2006Assignee: Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yusuke Tsutsui, Makoto Kitagawa, Mitsugu Kobayashi

Patent number: 7079165Abstract: Data output from a DSP (2) is subjected to pixel number adjustment and temporarily stored in a memory (6). Here, two adjacent pieces of video data are weighted in accordance with a difference between the data input and the display sampling cycle, so as to create new data. Even when video data and a display (9) have a different number of pixels, it is possible to minimize deterioration of the video data image when displayed.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2002Date of Patent: July 18, 2006Assignee: Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd.Inventors: Seiji Matsuda, Mitsugu Kobayashi
