  • Patent number: 9227437
Abstract: A label printer can appropriately print an image and attribute information on a label. A label printer 1 has a printhead 26, and a control unit 60 that prints an image and attribute information for the image on a label 52 by the inkjet head 26. The label 52 is separated by a half-cut 55 into a first label part 56 and a second label part 57, and removably affixed to a continuous liner 51. The control unit 60 of the label printer 1 includes an image printing control unit 61 that prints an image on the first label part 56, and an attribute information printing control unit 62 that prints image attribute information on the second label part 57.

  • Patent number: 8827403
Abstract: A head unit is provided that includes a plurality of head groups having a first head and a second head in a direction which crosses a transport direction of a medium. Color difference is obtained which indicates difference in color between patches formed for each band using dots having the same dot diameter from among a plurality of patches based on the result of color measurement performed on a test pattern which includes the plurality of patches for each band, the plurality of patches being formed for each head group using dots having different dot diameters. The amount of first ink and the amount of second ink, which are respectively ejected from the first head and the second head which are included in all the head groups, are adjusted such that the dot diameter becomes the dot diameter which is determined based on the color difference.

  • Patent number: 8542369
Abstract: A printer having multiple stages of nozzles is controlled to avoid or minimize blank space between print portions when printing on roll paper. A controller in communication with the printer is configured to determine if last partial print data to be printed contains blank raster data. If so, the controller calculates the difference between a total number of rasters in the first through the last partial print data and the number of blank rasters in the last partial print data, prints the last partial print data, and controls the paper transportation mechanism to advance the roll paper only the calculated distance to eliminate excess blank space between print portions. The functionality of the controller is also embodied in a method for controlling a printer as described above.

  • Publication number: 20070121165
Abstract: A first half-tone processing means 110 half-tone processes image data blocks using an error diffusion method. A second half-tone processing means applies a half-tone process for error value calculation on a leading portion of each image data block before the normal half-tone processing. Two error buffers store the error values output by the first half-tone processing means successively to the leading error values already stored by the second half-tone processing means. Two data buffers store the process result from the first half-tone processing means. The first half-tone processing means starts half-tone processing the image data blocks using the leading error values stored in the two error buffers.

  • Patent number: 6478486
Abstract: A ribbon advance mechanism has a advancing spool, a metal support shaft for supporting a advancing spool base part for rotation, and a coil spring attached between a base part of the advancing spool and the support shaft. The coil spring is mounted on a center part of the support shaft in a state in which it is slightly spread. One end part of a hook of the coil spring is fixed to a slit of the advancing spool base part, whereby the advancing spool is allowed to rotate only in an advancing direction (R direction), and when power is not transferred to the advancing spool, an ink ribbon is not slack. The coil spring is placed in a enclosed space by the base part of the advancing spool and a base part of the support shaft.

  • Patent number: 6480216
Abstract: A print head pressure mechanism is disclosed that maintains uniform pressure between the thermal print head and platen roller regardless of variations in parts precision, and thus prints with uniform print density. The print head pressure mechanism has first and second support shafts disposed at both sides in the direction of a heat element line L1 of the thermal print head, a frame member for supporting the print head, and having first and second contact parts for contacting the first and second support shafts, and an one or more urging unit for pushing the print head to the platen with the urging means operating on the side of the print head opposite the side to which the heat elements are disposed. When the platen is separated from the print head, the platen axis and heat element line L1 of the print head are not parallel to each other.
