  • Patent number: 4650405
Abstract: A multiple-turn scroll pump comprises a pumping unit on each lateral side of a base plate of an oscillatable scroll piston driven by an eccentric drive. Each pumping unit includes a spirally shaped groove in a scroll housing and a spirally shaped displacement blade forming part of the scroll piston. The groove in one of the pumping units extends from the peripheral part of the scroll housing through at least one turn of a spiral and terminates at the intermediate part of the housing. The groove in the other pumping unit also begins close to the peripheral part of the scroll housing but extends through a number of spiral turns greater than that of the groove in the first pumping unit. Passages are provided in the scroll piston to communicate grooves in both units in such a manner that the fluid drawn into the first pumping unit is compressed mainly in the second pumping unit and is discharged solely therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4616984
Abstract: A multiple-vane rotary compressor having a cylinder bore profile especially designed to reduce the fluctuation in the overall drive torque applied to the rotor shaft. The cylinder bore profile is configured and designed so that the individual drive torque applied to an individual vane during the compression and delivery strokes varies along a drive torque-vane angle curve which approximates an isosceles triangle having a lower side corresponding to a range of angle of 180.degree.. The cylinder bore profile includes, for a profile section extending through an angle of 180.degree., a first region (i) in which the amount of vane projection is held substantially constant at a maximum value (D), a second region (ii) in which the amount of vane projection decreases at a higher rate, and a third region (iii) in which the amount of vane projection decreases to zero at a lower rate, the imaginary transitional point (A.sub.3) between the second and third regions being located at an angular position of 90.degree..

  • Patent number: 4557670
Abstract: A compressor bypass passage has an inlet portion and an outlet portion which is connected to the suction passage. The inlet portion of the bypass passage has an opening which is able to be open to the compression chamber when the compression chamber is in a decreasing volume stroke, thereby to spill the refrigerant from the compression chamber into the suction passage. A control pressure chamber is formed in the housing. A valve member is arranged in the inlet portion of the bypass passage. The valve member is actuated in response to a variety of pressures of the refrigerant in the control pressure chamber for adjusting the area of the opening of the inlet portion of the bypass passage. A pressure supply passage for supplying a refrigerant, which pressure is higher than the pressure in the suction passage, is connected to the control pressure chamber. A spill passage for spilling a part of the refrigerant interconnects the control pressure chamber to the suction passage.

  • Patent number: 4484873
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improvement in the configuration of the inner face of a housing of a through vane type rotary compressor for use in a car cooler or the like, in which both the top ends of a vane passing through the center of a rotor are always kept in sliding contact with the inner face of the housing. In the present invention, the configuration of the inner face of the housing is determined so that substantial face-to-face contact is produced between the rotor and the housing in a certain region with the point for contact with the rotor being as the center, and the configuration of the subsequent curved portion is defined by such a curve that the velocity of the sliding movement of the vane in the radial direction of the rotor is expressed by a gentle function where said velocity monotonously changes.

  • Patent number: 4459817
Abstract: A rotary compressor formed with an unloading port maintaining a working space in communication with a suction chamber and opened and closed by a valve, to vary the capacity of the compressor. The internal pressure of the working space is sensed in a compression stroke or this pressure and the pressure of a fluid drawn by suction are both sensed, so as to open and close the valve based on the sensed internal pressure of the working space or the pressure differential between the internal pressure of the working space and the pressure of the fluid drawn by suction, to give suitable hysteresis to the operation characteristics of the on-off valve to stabilize the operation of the on-off valve.

  • Patent number: 4397620
Abstract: A rotary compressor including two rotary disc-shaped members having a diameter slightly smaller than that of a rotor each disposed on opposite ends of the rotor and supported on the same rotary shaft as the rotor for rotation, and two disc-shaped recesses each formed on one of inner opposite end surfaces of a housing for receiving therein one of the plurality of rotary disc-shaped members. A small gap is formed between the inner end surfaces of the housing and the end surfaces of the rotor, and small gaps are formed between surfaces of the rotary disc-shaped members and surfaces of the disc-shaped recesses. The area through which a fluid leaks from the high pressure side to the low pressure side in the housing is minimized, and resistance is offered by the tortuous path to the flow of the fluid toward the rotary shaft, to thereby minimize the leakage of fluid during operation of the compressor.
