  • Patent number: 11921487
Abstract: A system and method for manufacturing a component is provided that includes a CNC machine tool, a correction module, and a system controller. The CMM module is controllable to determine a set of multi-axis coordinates surface points on the component. The correction module is in communication with the CMM module and stored reference inspection data. The system controller is in communication with the CNC machine tool, the correction module, and stored instructions. The instructions when executed cause the system controller to: a) control the CNC machine tool to modify a surface of the component; b) control the CMM module to determine multi-axis coordinates for surface points; c) determine surface position variances using the reference inspection data and the multi-axis coordinates; d) determine if surface position variances exceed a threshold; and e) create correction action instructions for controlling the CNC machine if surface position variances exceed the threshold.

  • Publication number: 20240059036
Abstract: Methods and systems for characterizing holes in a combustor liner of a gas turbine engine, and associated repair methods are provided. One method comprises receiving first measured data of the combustor liner in an uncoated state. The method includes determining a first location and a first orientation of a first hole and a first location and a first orientation of a second hole in the combustor liner using the first measured data. The method includes receiving second measured data of the combustor liner in a coated state where the second hole is at least partially obstructed by a coating and the first hole is substantially unobstructed by the coating. The method includes inferring a second location of the second hole of the combustor liner in the coated state using a known spacing between the first location of the first hole and the first location of the second hole. The characterization of the holes may be used to re-drill the obstructed second hole.

  • Patent number: 11434339
Abstract: A heat energy storage system may have a shape-stabilized composite prepared using an easy impregnation method involving a porous Ca2+-doped MgCO3 matrix and PEG as the functional phase. The heat storage capability, microstructures, and interactions with the PEG/CaMgCO3 composite can be characterized by DSC, SEM imaging, FT-IR spectroscopy, and TGA. Likely because of the synergistic phase change effect of CaMgCO3 and PEG, the PEG/CaMgCO3 composites can have high thermal enthalpies, and their enthalpy efficiencies are substantially higher than those of traditional shape stabilized PCMs. The functional material PEG can permeate porous CaMgCO3 matrices under capillary action. Liquid PEG can be stabilized within the porous matrix, and/or the CaMgCO3 matrix can improve the thermal stability of the PEG. The high heat energy storage properties and good thermal stability of such organic-inorganic composites offers utility in a range of applications, including thermal energy storage.
