  • Publication number: 20050073238
Abstract: A cathode ray tube has a vacuum enclosure including a panel (1) having a screen (1a), a funnel (2) connected to the panel (1), and a neck (3) connected to the narrow part of the funnel (2). The funnel (2) has a yoke-mounting portion (5) on which a deflection yoke (7) is mounted. The sectional shape of the yoke-mounting portion (5), cut by a plane perpendicular to the tube axis of the funnel (2), varies from a circular shape to a substantially barrel shape having a maximum dimension at least in a direction of the horizontal axis or the vertical axis, as the position shifts from the neck (3) side to the panel (1) side of the yoke-mounting portion (5). With such an arrangement, the resistance to the external pressure can be improved, and the deflection power consumption can be reduced.

  • Publication number: 20040195952
Abstract: In a shadow mask (7) for a color cathode ray tube, there are a region (23) having only dummy bridges (21), and a mixed region (24) having the dummy bridges (21) and real bridges (22). A dummy bridge size in the region (23) having only the dummy bridges (21) is greater than a dummy bridge size in the mixed region (24) having the dummy bridges (21) and the real bridges (22). The vertical size of the region (23) having only the dummy bridges (21) is greater than 50 percent of the vertical size of the shadow mask.

  • Publication number: 20040090164
Abstract: A tensioned mask structure for a color CRT includes a color-selecting mask that is formed with a plurality of electron beam passing holes therein, a mask frame on which the color-selecting mask is mounted, and a vibration-attenuating mechanism in contact with the color-selecting mask to damp vibration of the color-selecting mask. The color-selecting mask includes an effective mask area having a slit region and a slot region. The slit region has a plurality of long narrow elements that extend in a vertical direction of a screen of the CRT and are aligned to define slit-like holes between adjacent long narrow elements. The slot region has a plurality of slot-like holes shorter than the slit-like holes, the slot-like holes extending in the vertical direction. The slit region is formed in an area except a left peripheral portion and a right peripheral portion of the effective mask area.

  • Patent number: 6371186
Abstract: A method and apparatus for affixing a functional film on a panel surface having a curvature in three dimensional directions with at least one pushing roller. A pressing roller which is elastic has a shaft inside the roller. The shaft has a varied diameter of concave curvature with the largest portions at the ends of the shaft. The inner portion of the elastic roller is separated from the shaft by a clearance which is greater in the middle of the shaft. When the roller is pressed upon a three dimensional panel, the elastic roller is deformed into the clearance area and against the shaft. This permits even pressure to be applied across the panel. In a second embodiment, a main pushing roller unit may travel along the direction while pushing the functional film against the panel surface, followed by the two follow-up displacement pushing roller units which are displayed in response to the travel of the main pushing roller unit while pushing the functional film against the panel surface.

  • Patent number: 5214349
Abstract: A color selection electrode device mounts: a color selection electrode composed of filaments for regulating the position which an electron beam of the cathode ray tube reaches on a pair of U-shaped frame bodies between which the color selection electrode is stretched. Support pieces are provided for connecting both end portions of the pair of frame bodies and holding the frame bodies at a predetermined space. The color selection electrode is a metal electrode which is composed of, for example, a multiplicity of filaments. The support pieces are composed of an elastic material and are bent due to the load which is applied to the frame bodies, thereby shortening the distance between the frame bodies. In this state, the color selection electrode is stretched between the frame bodies and both ends thereof are welded to the frame bodies. Thereafter, when the load is removed, a predetermined tension is uniformly applied to the color selection electrode by the elastic restoring force.
