  • Publication number: 20160067130
Abstract: A wheeled object, such as a bed (26), is moved by means of a separate driving device (10). The total driving device (10) including a motor driven driving wheel (15) has such dimensions that it may be substantially fully housed in the space defined between lower surface of the bed and the floor surface and is moved into such space. Thereafter an upper surface (21) of the driving device is moved into force transmitting engagement with the lower surface of the bed or object and the driving wheel (15) is moved into driving engagement with the supporting surface or floor. A separate control unit (24) communicating with the motor driven driving wheel may then be operated so as to energize the driving means and move said object. Because the driving device does not extend substantially beyond the outlines of the bed (26) or object, a highly increased maneuverability is obtained.

  • Patent number: 8720616
Abstract: A wheeled object or vehicle, such as a hospital bed (10) comprises a main chassis or frame (12) supported by a plurality of supporting wheels or rollers (11), which define the vertices of a polygonal supporting surface (21). The bed, which is usually moved by a walking person, is provided with at least one motor driven driving device (15), including at least one driving wheel or roller (18), positioned within said polygonal supporting surface. The driving device is rotatable about a substantially vertical axis (14) in relation to the chassis or frame so as to change the angular position of the driving wheel (18) in relation to the chassis or frame. Biasing means, such as a compression spring or a pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder (22, 34) is provided for biasing the driving device (15) in a direction away from the main chassis or frame (12) and towards the supporting surface (21).

  • Patent number: 6474434
Abstract: A drive wheel 10 is shown to include a support member 12 and, a wheel member 11 having a surface contacting portion 18 extending about a periphery of the wheel member 11. A drive shaft 24 includes a drive device 25 arranged to engage a drive surface 26 on the wheel member 11 such that the wheel member 11 can be rotatably driven relative to the support member 12. When the drive device 25 is engaged with the drive surface 26, a line of engagement 27 is defined along portions of the drive device 25 and the drive surface 26 that engage with one another.

  • Patent number: 5773952
Abstract: A device for providing self compensation of an operating position servo, as when external forces influence movement of a movable object, for example, when turning a wheel chair seat, has a position encoder for outputting position signal sets and for turning of the movable object, servo circuitry with elements for simultaneously signal handling at least two sets of controlling position signals, each set having at least two positioning signals.

  • Patent number: 5649605
Abstract: A chassis, particularly for carrying a wheelchair with pivotal seat (S), fitted with ground-engaging wheels with at least one driven from a drive device through a drive transmission and with at least one steerably suspended and connected to a steering motor receiving steering signals for steering the chassis bearing while driving from a steering panel comprising steering control devices (STY) is described, whereby all steerably wheels (2R) are drive device driven and steerably suspended each being pivotal about a vertical steering axis (2S, STF) geometrically maintained within or at a vertical plane comprising the wheel axis (2RAKS).
