    Abstract: A composition for improved oral care includes fibrillated material and friction elements for removal of plaque biofilm, and additional ingredients useful in oral care compositions. The composition also may include particulate SuperAbsorbent Polymer, which may be surface cross-linked. Certain ingredients may be minimized or avoided to reduce the lubricity of the composition. The composition may be a viscoelastic fluid having a desired viscosity, yield stress and elastic modulus. The efficacy can be characterized by its removal of biofilm due to flow inside tubes. Also useful are standard rheological and tribological measurements. Also disclosed are apparatus for administering the composition, and methods.

    Abstract: In an embodiment, there is provided a catheter extender-lengthener comprising end connectors and tubing that comprises a polymer and a substance such as an antibiotic that is safe for exposure to bodily fluids. The catheter extender-lengthener is suitable to connect to a catheter extension set. Antibiotic can be eluted to fluid on both sides of a clamp and can diffuse toward the patient's body. Similar tubing can be used in a catheter extension set and optionally in a cap. The catheter extender-lengthener can be added on to existing catheter assemblies. Drugs can be combined at high concentration with polymer, and the device can elute effective amounts of minocycline and rifampin for more than a month. Use of the devices can provide adjustable antibiotic or dose and can be adjusted in response to a patient's condition. This can lessen the possibility of Catheter Related Blood Stream Infection.

There may be an interaction such that in the presence of two different release-modifying materials, drug release may be greater than with either release-modifying material alone. Release durations as long as two months are possible. In addition, the composition can be provided on a medical device that is configured for implanting in body tissue for an extended time period.
