  • Patent number: 9960790
Abstract: A method of processing data received over a channel includes receiving data representing probabilities associated with a plurality of variables and receiving a parity check matrix associated with a factor graph which includes variable nodes and check nodes connected by edges. After each exchange of messages between the variable nodes and check nodes, messages are calculated based on messages received at the variable nodes and permuted messages to be sent from the variable nodes in the next iteration are calculated by applying a permutation to the calculated messages. The permutation is of a set of permutations which map each codeword of the set of codewords onto a different codeword of the set of codewords. Soft values associated to variable nodes can be accumulated over two iterations of the message exchange processing.

  • Patent number: 8024635
Abstract: Wireless transmission of data is effected across a communications channel defined by a communications medium by means of an encoder, operable to apply a low density parity check (LDPC) code to data for transmission. The LDPC code is irregular with respect to the degree of variable nodes, and so the transmitter further comprises means for sorting encoded data with respect to the corresponding variable node degree, and modulation and distribution means for allocating encoded and sorted data onto the communications medium. The distribution of the data onto the communications medium is carried out with respect to a prior established pre-coding algorithm, such as SVD.

  • Patent number: 7386032
Abstract: Spread spectrum receiver architectures and methods are described for reducing interference, particularly the interference observed at a user-end terminal in a W-CDMA 3G mobile communications system. Interpath interference which arises due to non-zero cross and auto correlation of more than one spreading code is suppressed by estimating a transmitted signal stream, or a plurality of such signal streams in the case of a plurality of multipath components, respreading this estimated signal and subtracting non-orthogonal interference contributions from a received signal. The techniques provide an improved bit error rate or equivalently, enhanced capacity for a digital mobile communications network.
