  • Patent number: 5285758
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines having a cup-shaped pump housing and a pump head enclosing the housing. The pump head has a cylinder in which a pump piston, which is set into simultaneous reciprocating and rotary motion by a cam drive, in the course of which it simultaneously acts as a distributor, encloses a pump work chamber that is filled with fuel upon an intake stroke and communicates with one of a plurality of injection lines upon the supply stroke. The resultant reaction forces and moments are supported according to the invention via a roller race supported directly on the pump head, and as a result the induction of force to the pump housing can be avoided.

  • Patent number: 5233957
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines has a fuel-quantity adjusting member, and an adjusting device associated with the adjusting member and operative for altering a possible travel of the fuel-quantity adjusting member as a function of an atmospheric pressure. The device has a pivotally mounted two-armed stop lever against which the fuel-quantity adjusting member can be brought to rest. A circuit is provided with a working element which acts on the stop lever and changes its position or length following a closure and opening of the circuit. The adjusting device has a switching element which is acted upon by the atmospheric pressure and, as a function of atmospheric pressure closes and opens the circuit.

  • Patent number: 5188083
Abstract: The invention is based on a fuel injection pump in which to supply a very rapid pressure rise in the interior of a fuel injection pump, a pressure valve controlling this pressure is modified such that upon cold starting of the engine, the pressure valve closes a bypass line at the feed pump and thus delivers all the fuel to the fuel injection pump. The closure is effected as a function of rpm and accordingly pressure, and also as a function of the engine operating temperature; in the fuel injection pump according to the invention, the rpm- and pressure-dependent diversion is performed by the adjusting piston of an injection adjuster. Thus, compared with the known cold-starting accelerating devices, one additional pressure limiting valve can be eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4065236
Abstract: The pump piston in a fuel injection pump is provided with longitudinal grooves which provide communication between the pressure chamber and the fuel supply chamber. An annular groove on the pump piston connects the longitudinal grooves so that communication between the pressure chamber and the fuel supply chamber is interrupted only after onset of the axial pressure stroke regardless of prior piston rotation.
