Patents by Inventor Mohammad SHAKIBA-HERFEH

Mohammad SHAKIBA-HERFEH has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 10597025
Abstract: Methods and systems for operating a hybrid driveline that includes an engine and an electric machine are presented. In one non-limiting example, the engine and electric machine are operated according to a solution of a Hamiltonian that includes a first co-state and a second co-state, an engine fuel flow parameter, a rate of change of battery state of charge parameter, and an emissions flow rate parameter.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 18, 2016
Date of Patent: March 24, 2020
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC
Inventors: Kukhyun Ahn, Mohammad Shakiba-herfeh, David Richens Brigham, Alexander T. Zaremba, Mark John Jennings
  • Patent number: 10252712
Abstract: A vehicle includes an engine and at least one controller. In response to a change in a rate of change of a driver control input to the vehicle, the at least one controller is programmed to alter conditions under which the engine will be started and stopped such that engine-on time increases due to the rate increasing and decreases due to the rate decreasing.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 11, 2016
Date of Patent: April 9, 2019
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC
    Inventors: Hamid-Reza Ossareh, Mohammad Shakiba-Herfeh
  • Patent number: 10023179
Abstract: A hybrid vehicle includes powertrain components such as an engine, an automatic transmission, and a traction motor selectively coupled to the engine via a clutch and to the transmission. At least one controller is programmed to control these powertrain components. The vehicle is driven over a drive cycle that includes multiple engine starts and transmission gear shifts. An amount of fuel consumption used during these engine starts and transmissions gear shifts is stored on an on-board storage device. Subsequently, the engine is inhibited from starting and the transmission is inhibited from shifting gears based on the amount of fuel consumption associated with the engine starts and transmission gear shifts performed during the drive cycle as recalled from the storage device.
