  • Patent number: 10179655
Abstract: A system is provided for generating an alert to the presence of emission vapors for a low altitude in-flight aircraft. An obstacle database and a terrain database provide parameters for obstacles and terrain features to a synthetic vision processor. The processor creates a graphic overlay of the terrain and obstacles that is combined with thermal images of emission vapors by a combined vision processor to create a combined synthetic image. An emissions threat calculator analyzes the synthetic image for the presence of emission vapors. If any emission vapors are detected in proximity to the aircraft, an alert and suggested maneuvers to avoid the emission vapors are sent to the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 10089894
Abstract: A method of operating an augmented reality processed terrain and obstacle threat scouting service is provided. The method includes using at least one sensor of a monitoring vehicle to monitor terrain and obstacle data. The monitored terrain and obstacle data is compared with terrain and obstacle data in a terrain and obstacle database. A non-validated georeferenced delta is determined when the comparison of the monitored terrain and obstacle data with terrain and obstacle data in the terrain and obstacle database finds non-matching terrain and obstacle data. The non-validated georeferenced delta is transmitted to a ground distribution center, consumer vehicle and/or cloud based server. Non-validated georeferenced delta received at a consumer vehicle is differentiated from other terrain and obstacle data on a synthetic vision display.

  • Publication number: 20180222798
Abstract: A lightweight structural concrete formulation comprises a wet mix of about 460 kg/m3 of cementitious material such as ordinary Portland cement of which about 50 percent has been replaced by ground granulated basic furnace slag (GGBFS) and 7 percent by silica fume (SF) in other words the mix introduces between about 178 and 228 kg/m3 therefore the combination is good to produce secondary reaction products when the cement hydrates which produces secondary calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H) which makes the structure dense and thereby increases its mechanical durability characteristics of the concrete product. Possible ratios of GGBFS and SF are 30-70 percent and 5-10 percent, respectively. By making the structures dense increases the mechanical and durability characteristics of the concrete product. Other ratios have been made including GGBFS of 30-70 percent and silica fume 5-10 percent, respectively.

  • Publication number: 20180079495
Abstract: Avionic systems and methods are provided for forecasting and reducing the likelihood of tire overspeed events during aircraft (A/C) runway procedures, such as takeoff and landing procedures. In one embodiment, the avionic system includes a controller coupled to at least one runway procedure data source, such as pilot input interface, a flight management system, atmospheric data sensors, or a navigational database. During operation, the controller receives runway procedure data from the runway procedure data sources pertaining to a planned runway procedure for the ownship A/C. The controller utilizes the runway procedure data to project at least one maximum tire speed during the planned runway procedure (TSMAX_PROJECTED), which is then compared to a maximum speed limit of the A/C tires (TSLIMIT). If TSMAX_PROJECTED exceeds TSLIMIT, the controller generates an alert or notification indicating the probable occurrence of a tire overspeed event during the planned runway procedure.

  • Patent number: 9644156
Abstract: Deep desulfurization of hydrocarbon feeds containing undesired organosulfur compounds to produce a hydrocarbon product having low levels of sulfur, i.e., 15 ppmw or less of sulfur, is achieved by flashing the feed at a target cut point temperature to obtain two fractions. A first fraction contains refractory organosulfur compounds, which boil at or above the target cut point temperature. A second fraction boiling below the target cut point temperature is substantially free of refractory sulfur-containing compounds. The second fraction is contacted with a hydrodesulfurization catalyst in a hydrodesulfurization reaction zone operating under mild conditions to reduce the quantity of organosulfur compounds to an ultra-low level. The first fraction is contacted with an oxidizing agent and an active metal catalyst in an oxidation reaction zone to convert the refractory organosulfur compounds to oxidized organosulfur compounds.
