  • Patent number: 7387864
Abstract: A donor element useful in an assemblage for imaging by exposure to light comprises a support layer formed by a stretching process, a light-to-heat conversion layer disposed adjacent the support layer containing a light absorber, and a transfer layer disposed adjacent the light-to-heat conversion layer opposite the support layer. The light-to-heat conversion layer is coated on the support prior to completion of the stretching process.

  • Patent number: 6468641
Abstract: A composite film is described which consists of a primary unfilled polyester layer and a secondary polyester layer containing from 1 to 8% by weight, based on the weight of the secondary polyester layer, of finely divided silica particles having a volume weighted mean particle size diameter D[4,3] of from 2.3 to 6.2 micrometers. The composite film is used in backlit displays such as illuminated signboards and provides uniform light transmission while maintaining the same strength of illumination at all points over the area of the display.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 14, 2001
Date of Patent: October 22, 2002

  • Patent number: 5721392
Abstract: The pyrotechnic ignition device of this invention comprises a hollow tubular coiled charge of pyrotechnic sheet material defining an ignition initiation position, the internal diameter of the charge decreasing and the wall thickness increasing over at least a portion of the charge extending from the initiation position in the direction of burning. This configuration enhances the reliability of ignition and the rate of flame development.Preferably the adjacent plies of the coiled charge are spaced apart. The preferred coiled charge also has a portion downstream from the initiation position in the direction of burning which decreases in external diameter and wall thickness in a direction extending away from the initiation position, the configuration of this portion being effective to enhance the speed and violence of burning of a main gas-generating propellant charge ignited by the coiled charge.
