Abstract: Systems and methods of controlling a point of sale (POS) device are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, a method comprises, by a first network node that is operationally coupled to a POS device over a one-to-one connection, with the POS device being operable to receive commands related to secured and unsecured functions of the POS device that are sent to the first network node over the network and then conditionally sent by the first network node to the POS device over the one-to-one connection, receiving, from the second network node, an indication that includes both a command related to the POS device and a network node identifier associated with the second network node so that the first network node is enabled to authorize the second network node to send the command to the POS device based on the network node identifier and an authorized network node identifier.

Abstract: A system, computer program product, and method for advertising that include coupling a body-worn sensor device associated with an article of clothing to a receiver, and retrieving data from the sensor device. The retrieved data includes one or more measures indicating a state of wear of the article of clothing. The method further includes generating an advertisement based on the retrieved data.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention address deficiencies of the art in respect to content cut-and-paste operations and provide a method, system and computer program product for cutting and pasting content from a source document to a target document. In an embodiment of the invention, a method for cutting and pasting content from a source document to a target document can include selecting multiple non-contiguous segments of content in a source document rendered in an activated application executing in a host computing platform, designating from within the activated application for each of the non-contiguous segments, an inactive target application in the host computing platform, and pasting the selected multiple non-contiguous segments of content into a target document rendered in the inactive target application while maintaining focus in the activated application and without activating the inactive target application.

Abstract: A method and system for using a JAVA™ Custom ClassLoader to dynamically build and maintain a list of JAVA™ Class Files and resources that are used by applications that run in Point Of Sale (POS) terminals or other POS devices. The JAVA™ Class Files and resources are ordinarily obtained from a file server known as a controller. If communication between the POS terminal and the controller is lost, other POS devices dynamically collaborate in a “self healing” process to find and provide the required resources (e.g., JAVA™ Class Files) to run the POS terminal in an off-line mode. The present system is thus autonomic, self-learning and self-healing.
