Abstract: An apparatus, method and program product for optimizing core performance and power in of a multi-core processor. The apparatus includes a multi-core processor coupled to a clock source providing a clock frequency to one or more cores, an independent power supply coupled to each core for providing a supply voltage to each core and a Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) circuit coupled to each core for dynamically adjusting the clock frequency provided to each core. The apparatus further includes a controller coupled to each core and being configured to collect performance data and power consumption data measured for each core and to adjust, using the PLL circuit, a supply voltage provided to a core, such that, the operational core frequency of the core is greater than a specification core frequency preset for the core and, such that, core performance and power consumption is optimized.

Abstract: A mobile terminal and a method of controlling the operation of the mobile terminal are provided. The method includes displaying a first image on a touch screen; and if a multi-touch input is detected from the first image and then a drag input for dragging the first image is detected, displaying the first image as being torn from one side of the touch screen and storing the first image. Therefore, it is possible to easily store an image displayed on the touch screen in response to a multi-touch input and thus to effectively use the image for various purposes.

Abstract: Under the present invention, a best practice violation (BPV) engine resource is first built. This typically occurs by: receiving sets of source code from a plurality of sources; detecting a programming language of each of the sets of source code; extracting code patterns from the sets of source code; defining meta data for each code pattern that indicates a quality thereof, classifying each code pattern; and assigning a rank to each of the code pattern based on it's corresponding meta data as well as a skill level and an experience level of the developer thereof. Once the BPV engine resource is built, it will be used to detect best practice violations in other sets of source code.

The method includes displaying a first screen image, receiving weather information, providing a semi-transparent filter effect corresponding to the weather information, and overlaying the semi-transparent filter effect onto the first screen image to create a second composite image, and displaying the second composite image. A mobile terminal is also provided, which includes a display module configured to display a first screen image as an idle screen background, a wireless communication unit configured to receive weather information through a communication network, and a controller configured to overlay a semi-transparent filter effect corresponding to the received weather information onto the first screen image to create a second composite image, and then to display the second composite image.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for recycling and reusing charge in an electronic circuit. The apparatus includes at least one capacitor coupled to a circuit block in the electronic circuit, the capacitor being configured to collect current charge consumed by the circuit block when set to a charge collection mode, and a voltage level comparator configured to detect a fully charged state when the capacitor is fully charged. Further, the apparatus includes a first electrical switch configured to allow, once the fully charged state is detected, the capacitor to switch to a discharge mode for discharging the current charge collected back into the power supply for reuse by the electrical system and a second switch configured to allow, after the capacitor has fully discharged the current charge collected, the capacitor to switch back to the charge collection mode, such that, the current charge is recycled and reused by the electrical system.

Abstract: A method, software and apparatus are provided which enable a user to obtain products and services in a manner which counteracts conflicting actions modifying raw ranking data based on merchants interests. For this purpose, an information a user's web browser is provided with modules that modify search results obtained from one or more sources including directly from merchants. When the user enters a set of key words in an entry field in an on-screen form for a web server to obtain a list of items (products and/or services) of interest to the user, the search terms are modified in the users or his agents browser to reflect the interest of the user, his management or his parents. The user or his agent receives ranking information taking the highest ranked products and obtains the product information for the most highly ranked products. The browser then reranks the products using a ranking algorithm preferred by the user that offsets information sources biases in the ranking of the product information.

Abstract: Method, system and article of manufacture are provided for continually monitoring reliability, or aging, of a digital system and for issuing a warning signal if digital system operation degrades to or past a specified threshold. The technique includes periodically determining a maximum frequency of operation of the digital system, and generating a warning signal indicative of a reliability degradation of the digital system if at least one of: (i) a measured or estimated maximum frequency of operation of the digital system is below a warning threshold frequency of operation of the digital system, wherein the warning threshold frequency is greater than or equal to a manufacturer specified minimum frequency of operation for the digital system; or (ii) a rate of change in the difference between measured maximum frequencies of operation of the digital system exceeds an acceptable rate of change threshold for the digital system.

Abstract: A mobile terminal and message list displaying method therein are disclosed, by which a message item of a counterpart terminal (or an unchecked message) having sent an unchecked message may be displayed at a specific point on a message list regardless of an arrangement reference of message items. This may include receiving at least one message from each counterpart terminal, generating the message list including at least one message item corresponding to each counterpart terminal, determining whether an unchecked message exists in the received at least one message, and when the unchecked message exists as a result of the determining, displaying the generated message list by displaying the message item corresponding to the counterpart terminal having transmitted the unchecked message at a specific position in the message list regardless of an arrangement reference of the message item.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for micro-tuning an effective clock frequency of a core in a microprocessor. The apparatus includes a microprocessor having at least one core with logic configured to transition between states, a clock signal coupled to the microprocessor, the clock signal having a predetermined clock frequency based on a worst-case clock frequency and a predetermined clock period. The apparatus further including at least one voltage drop sensor coupled to the core, the sensor being configured to generate an output signal for detecting a voltage drop in the core and to determine whether or not the output signal is detected within the clock period and, if the output signal is not detected, the sensor dynamically adjusts the clock period of the clock signal provided to the core to allow more time to complete state transitions, such that, dynamically adjusting the clock period effectively changes an effective core clock frequency.

Abstract: A system and method of searching a database in which documents of different languages are included. The system includes a synonym or keyword dictionary which is bi-directional and allows for translation of keywords between a first language and other languages. The translated words keywords for the document are stored in an inverted index which is then used for searching, either in a selected language, a second language or in all languages, as determined by the user. This use of multiple searching and a translated synonym dictionary avoids the need for translation of the entire document and avoids inaccuracies which may result from translations.

Abstract: Circuits and methods are provided for facilitating transitioning of a digital circuit from backgate biased standby mode to active mode. The digital circuit includes a semiconductor substrate, multiple n-channel transistors disposed at least partially in one or more p-type wells in the semiconductor substrate, multiple p-channel transistors disposed at least partially in one or more n-type wells in the semiconductor substrate, and a backgate control circuit. The backgate control circuit is electrically coupled to the p-type well(s) and to the n-type well(s) to facilitate transitioning of the multiple n-channel transistors and the multiple p-channel transistors from backgate biased standby mode to active mode by automatically shunting charge from the n-type well(s) to the p-type well(s) until a well voltage threshold is reached indicative of a completed transition of the transistors from backgate biased standby mode to active mode.
