  • Patent number: 8965635
Abstract: A method and a system for regulating, while the vehicle is in motion, the linear position of a fifth wheel of a vehicle combination which comprises a tractor unit and a semi-trailer, which linear position of the fifth wheel is regulated automatically on the basis of the vehicle speed. Forward movement of the fifth wheel ordered in response to an increase in the vehicle speed, in order to reduce the distance between the driving cab and the semi-trailer, is effected at a faster rate of movement of the fifth wheel at times when the tractor unit is performing a gear change operation than at times when the tractor unit is not performing a gear change operation. When a rearward movement of the fifth wheel to increase the distance between the driving cab and the semi-trailer has to be effected in response to a decrease in the vehicle speed, braking of the semi-trailer relative to the tractor unit is ordered, in order thereby to facilitate the rearward movement of the fifth wheel.

  • Patent number: 8565983
Abstract: A method and a system for regulating, while the vehicle is in motion, the linear position of a fifth wheel (4) of a vehicle combination which comprises a tractor unit (1) and a semi-trailer (2), which linear position of the fifth wheel is regulated automatically on the basis of the vehicle speed. Forward movement of the fifth wheel ordered in response to an increase in the vehicle speed, in order to reduce the distance between the driving cab (3) and the semi-trailer, is effected at a faster rate of movement of the fifth wheel at times when the tractor unit is performing a gear change operation than at times when the tractor unit is not performing a gear change operation. • Patent number: 7614442
Abstract: A heat exchanger comprising two tanks, and a plurality of tubes for a medium which is to be cooled/heated are arranged in stacked, transverse rows, with the tubes arrayed to extend from the entrance to the exit side of the heat exchanger. The tubes are disposed between and transmit the medium between the tanks. Ducts between the stacked rows of the tubes for flow of a different cooling/heating medium. The ducts are arranged to run transversely to the longitudinal direction of the tubes. The opposing connection surfaces of the tanks converge in the direction of flow of the cooling/heating medium through the heat exchanger. The ducts closer to the connection surfaces are angled convergingly like the connection surfaces. Such a heat exchanger may be used, e.g. as a cooler, and in a motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6945349
Abstract: A control device in a vehicle, which control device is connected to, and is for operating, a semi-automatic gearbox, can be set in various gearchange function positions and can, in at least one gearchange function position for traveling forwards, be operated for gear changing. The control device is also connected to, and is for operating, a supplementary brake. This control device replaces both the gear lever and the supplementary brake lever, resulting in increased driving safety and better ergonomics for the driver.

  • Publication number: 20030000763
Abstract: The invention concerns an arrangement for regulating the speed of motor vehicles with an internal combustion engine and additional braking systems. An operating element (2) of the speed-regulating arrangement has switching positions (4, 6, 8, 20, 22, 24, 42, 44, 52, 54, 56) for influencing the engine control braking stages and switching positions (10, 12, 14, 16, 17, 26, 28, 30, 31, 32, 58, 60, 62, 64, 66) for influencing the braking system braking stages. The first and second switching positions can be in a single switching plane (18). A second switching plane (40), which is perpendicular to the first switching plane (18) and comprises speed-regulation switching positions (42, 44), can additionally be provided. Retarders, engine brakes, exhaust flap brakes or the gear control system in an automatic transmission can serve as braking devices.
