  • Patent number: 10450810
Abstract: A riser top connector assembly (20) is shown. The assembly (20) includes a first connector part (21) arranged on a flexible jumper prepared for connection with a second connector part (40) arranged on top of a marine riser tower assembly projecting from the seabed. The first connector part (21) is provided with suspension means adapted to engage with supporting means in order to be supported and be able to tilt in the marine riser tower assembly. The first connector part (21) includes a housing (22) that receives an extendable termination hub (23) having a clamp connector (24) attached thereto. The jumper termination hub (23) is alignable with a riser hub (44) on the second connector part (40) when the first connector part (21) is being tilted relative to the marine riser tower assembly.

  • Publication number: 20150042090
Abstract: A combined hub joint and connector arrangement for rigidly connecting two axially consecutive tubular members is shown. The tubular members have respective hub end surfaces to be mated, where each hub further includes a flanged end having an external tapered activation surface adapted for complementary engagement with an internal tapered activation surface of the connector, The activation surfaces are able to transform a transversally acting force, when viewed in the longitudinal direction of the joined hubs, to an axially acting force when the connector is activated to make up the joint. The hub end mating surfaces diverge at least over some area of said mating surfaces and opens up in a radially outwards direction. The connector can either be a clamp connector, collet connector or split ring connector.

  • Patent number: 6988340
Abstract: An end termination for a tension leg of non-metallic materials like composite material is disclosed. The tension leg is constructed of a number of strands which constitute the load carrying elements of the tension leg. The strands are twisted (laid) about the longitudinal axis of the tension leg by a predetermined laying length and in turn each strand is constructed of a plurality of rods of composite material having embedded strength fibres. The rods are in turn twisted about each other like in a wire rope. The strands terminate into a receiving body that forms fixing points for the respective strands. The end termination comprises an embracing element that is spaced apart from the receiving body and keeps the strands together. Intermediate the embracing element and the receiving body the strands extend less radial restriction and in a substantially natural direction towards and into apertures in the receiving body.

  • Patent number: 6568875
Abstract: A connector in particular intended for use with a tension leg platform is disclosed. The connector comprises a male part (1) and a female part (2), which male part (1) is designed to engage in the female part (2) and the parts are able to engage with one another without any of the parts having to rotate in respect of the other. The female part (2) comprises an abutment ring having an internal continuous downward facing abutment shoulder (4) and the male part (1) has a discontinuous segmented ring (5). Each individual ring segment (8) is limitary independantly movable, both axially and radially, which segmented ring (5) lies slidably against a mandrel abutment (9).
