    Abstract: A media distribution system is presented. A channel producer can access a channel distribution portal to construct one or more channels of rich media content. Channels are defined by one or more media arrangement requirements including a schedule for presenting content, placement of content, orientation of content, layers of content, or other requirements. The arrangement can be compiled into media player commands, which can be sent to subscribing media players. The media players present the channel content according to the compiled arrangement in a manner where each media player presents the channel content substantially at the same time. The system can be used to simulate a shared television viewing experience among cell phone users.

    Abstract: A digital magazine publishing system is presented. A magazine publishing system can include one or more publishing development environments where different digital magazine publishers can create, manage, or distribute their digital magazines to their subscribers. Issues of the magazines can be stored on a magazine server. A subscriber can submit a request to the server for a magazine issue from the subscriber's cell phone, where the request includes device attributes related to the subscriber's phone. In response, the magazine server can obtain the requested issue and edit the issue based on the device attributes in preparation for presentation on the cell phone.

    Abstract: Various embodiments facilitate the distribution of digital content. In some embodiments, a system manages the distribution of a subscription that includes digital content. In one embodiment, the system pushes the subscription to a first and second portable computing device. Then, the system receives from the first portable device a user addition to the subscription, such as some new or changed text. Next, the system incorporates the received addition into the subscription to the first and second portable devices. In another embodiment, the system receives a customization request, composes a subscription based on guidelines in the received request, and pushes the subscription to a portable device.
