Patent number: 10353121Abstract: The present invention aims to provide a retroreflective material that exhibits high reflective luminance for incident light with a large incident angle, and has excellent retroreflective performance for incident light with a wide incident angle. A retroreflective material includes a support, a fixing resin layer held on the support, transparent microspheres embedded in the fixing resin layer, and a reflective layer provided between the transparent microspheres and the fixing resin layer. In the retroreflective material, the transparent microspheres used have a refractive index of 1.6 to 2.5, and are exposed in air with an exposure ratio of 53 to 70%. The retroreflective material can thus have excellent retroreflective performance for incident light with a wide incident angle.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 2015Date of Patent: July 16, 2019Assignee: UNITIKA SPARKLITE LTD.Inventors: Yasutaka Nishimura, Motomu Fujiki, Atsumi Nishigaki

Publication number: 20190170916Abstract: The purpose of the present invention is to provide a retroreflective tape having superior flexibility, retroreflective properties, and cleaning durability, as well as making possible clear formation of a boundary between a retroreflective region and a non-retroreflective region. Provided is a retroreflective tape in which a retroreflective region is provided on part of a base material layer, wherein: the retroreflective region is a region having a fixing resin layer, transparent microspheres embedded in the fixing resin layer, and a reflective layer provided between the transparent microspheres and the fixing resin layer and formed from a metal film; the index of refraction of the transparent microspheres is 1.6-2.5; and the transparent microspheres are embedded in the fixing resin layer such that the exposure ratio is 53-70%.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 28, 2017Publication date: June 6, 2019Applicant: UNITIKA SPARKLITE LTD.Inventors: Yasutaka NISHIMURA, Motomu FUJIKI, Atsumi NISHIGAKI

Patent number: 10124619Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a retroreflective material that has excellent wash resistance, and stably maintains, even after it is repeatedly washed, a daytime color visible by ink-jet printing and a nighttime color visible by retroreflected light. A retroreflective material comprising a fixing resin layer, a transparent microsphere embedded in the fixing resin layer, a reflective layer provided on a surface of the transparent microsphere opposite to incident light, and an ink-jet receptive layer provided on an outermost surface near the incident light, wherein the refractive index of the transparent microsphere is set to 1.6 to 2.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 2016Date of Patent: November 13, 2018Assignee: UNITIKA SPARKLITE LTD.Inventors: Yasutaka Nishimura, Motomu Fujiki, Atsumi Nishigaki

Patent number: 10078162Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a retroreflective material that shows high chroma for incident light with a wide angle, and can change the color tone of reflected light depending on the incident angle of the incident light, and also has reduced unevenness in the color of the reflected light. An open-type retroreflective material in which a transparent resin layer and a reflective layer formed of a transparent metal compound thin film are laminated between a transparent microsphere and a fixing resin layer, and the layer thickness of the transparent resin layer is set to satisfy predetermined conditions, can show high chroma for incident light with a wide angle, and can change the color tone of reflected light depending on the incident angle of the incident light, and can also have reduced color unevenness.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2015Date of Patent: September 18, 2018Assignee: UNITIKA SPARKLITE LTD.Inventors: Motomu Fujiki, Atsumi Nishigaki, Yasutaka Nishimura
