  • Publication number: 20170040033
Abstract: An information recording method of the present disclosure is an information recording method for recording information on a write-once information recording medium, including one or more recording layers, each of the recording layers being spiral-shaped on which a land track and a groove track are alternately repeated as recording tracks, each of the recording tracks being divided into blocks, each of the blocks being a minimum unit in which recording is performed. The information recording method includes: recording the information on the information recording medium in a unit of each of the blocks; and controlling recording on the information recording medium. In the control step, switching is performed whether to perform recording in a block to be recorded in which the information is to be recorded next among the blocks based on recording conditions of the recording tracks adjacent on both sides of the block to be recorded.

  • Publication number: 20150108833
Abstract: A distribution board includes: a storage battery including one or more storage batteries and electrically connected to a predetermined load; a detector which detects a power outage state in which no electric power is being supplied from a power system; a first switch between the power system and the storage battery; and a controller which controls at least the first switch. When the detector detects the power outage state, the controller turns off the first switch to electrically disconnect the storage battery and the power system, and the storage battery causes the one or more storage batteries to discharge and supplies electric power to the controller and the predetermined load.

  • Publication number: 20150015075
Abstract: A distribution board includes: a pack housing unit which houses a battery pack and includes a connecting unit; and a charge control unit. The battery pack includes a connecting terminal unit for charge and discharge of power and can supply power to the distribution board and another device different from the distribution board. The connecting unit is connectable to and disconnectable from the connecting terminal unit. The charge control unit converts AC power supplied from a power system into DC power, and supplies the DC power to the battery pack housed in the pack housing unit to charge the battery pack.

  • Patent number: 8811140
Abstract: The present invention is to realize a proper inner zone layout in a quadruple-layer disk. A test area is provided in the inner zone (inner circumference side area) in each of recording layers. If two test areas closer to the outer circumference, of four test areas, are defined as a first pair and two test areas closer to the inner circumference are defined as a second pair, the test areas of the first pair and the test areas of the second pair are so disposed as to be prevented from overlapping with each other in the layer direction. Two test areas of the first pair have the same consumption direction of the test area, and are so disposed that the areas to be used next hardly overlap with each other in the layer direction. Two test areas of the second pair have the same consumption direction of the test area opposite to the consumption direction of the test area in the first pair, and are so disposed that the areas to be used next hardly overlap with each other in the layer direction.

  • Patent number: 8732395
Abstract: In an information recording medium in which storage capacity per recording layer has increased so much that the size of an SBM varies with those of spare areas, there is mutual dependence between a DDS and an SBM and it is difficult to retrieve disc management information as intended. In an information recording medium according to the present invention, if the largest space is allocated to an user data area, the number of blocks to store a space bitmap is Ni (where Ni?2). But if the smallest space is allocated to the user data area, the number of blocks to use is smaller than Ni.

  • Publication number: 20130166945
Abstract: A storage device according to the present invention constructs a RAID structure using a plurality of detachable recording mediums. When a first drive device fails to reproduce data from a recording medium, a transport device transports the recording medium to a second drive device different from the first drive device which failed to reproduce the data, and the second drive device attempts to reproduce the data from the recording medium, the data reproduction from which failed. Owing to this, even when faults of a number exceeding the number of faults correctable by the RAID structure occur, the probability that the data is recovered can be improved.

  • Publication number: 20130132672
Abstract: When RAID is constructed by using optical disks of the same lot, there is a problem in that the reproduction error probability of the RAID may have local increases over the reproduction error probability within the optical disks. According to the present invention, among a plurality of optical disks constituting an optical disk array, the smallest logical sector number is assigned to mutually different physical sector numbers. As a result, data in the same stripe is allowed to be recorded to sectors at mutually different physical sector numbers of the plurality of optical disks, so that the probability of occurrence of read errors due to interferences of adjacent guide grooves and/or insufficient formation of guide grooves can be leveled out, and the maximum probability of read errors can be kept small.

  • Patent number: 8400895
Abstract: If a defective cluster in a spare area is managed with a defect entry, the size of a DFL will increase as the size of the spare area increases with an increase in the number of recording layers stacked in a disc. An information recording medium according to the present invention has pointer information indicating the location of the next available cluster in each spare area, and restricts the direction in which the spare area is used. Also, a defect entry indicating a defective cluster in the spare area is registered with the DFL. Thus, even if the size of the spare area 15 increases, the size of the DFL 21 can be kept relatively small. Furthermore, even after physical reformatting is done, a defective cluster, if any, in the spare area 15 can still be recognized as a defect and the control operation can be performed so that a replacement cluster is not re-allocated to that defective cluster (i.e., the defective cluster is not used).

  • Patent number: 8363531
Abstract: The present invention is to realize a proper inner zone layout in an optical disk having at least three layers. A test area is provided in the inner zone (inner circumference side area) in each of recording layers. The test areas of each layer are so disposed as to be prevented from overlapping with each other in the layer direction. Furthermore, the number of management information recording/reproduction areas overlapping with the test area in the layer direction at a position closer to the laser-incident surface than this test area is set equal to or smaller than one in each test area of each recording layer. The management information recording/reproduction areas are each so disposed as to be prevented from overlapping with the test areas in the respective recording layers in the layer direction on the disk substrate side of the test areas.
