  • Patent number: 4327869
Abstract: A fluid deflecting assembly is constituted by first and the second walls, the former having a curved portion to cause the adherence of the outlet flow and the latter having a substantially straight portion to cause the adherence of the outlet flow and having a ridge at its upstream end and a control vane rotatably positioned within a passage formed by the first and the second walls. The control vane is able to rotate around a shaft thereby causing wide deflection of the outlet flow due to the existence of the two walls. The height and position of the ridge is such as to help the vertical downward deflection of the outlet flow along the curved portion. The length and position of the straight portion is such as to help the horizontal deflection of the outlet flow along the straight portion.

  • Patent number: 4326452
Abstract: A fluid diverting assembly particularly suited for use as a component for a fluid exit structure of an air-conditioner, which has a passageway through which a fluid medium flows. The passageway includes a nozzle for issuing a fluid stream as the fluid medium passes therethrough, a pair of spaced opposed guide walls having a shape diverging from each other in a direction downstream with respect to the direction of flow of the fluid stream and opening outwardly in a direction away from the nozzle, and a deflecting blade supported in the passageway between the upstream and downstream ends of the nozzle for movement between first and second extreme positions for changing the direction of flow of the fluid stream emerging from the passageway in such a manner as to control mutual interference between one of currents flowing on one side of the deflecting blade and the adjacent guide wall thereby controlling the direction of flow of the fluid stream.

  • Patent number: 4266722
Abstract: A fluid deflecting assembly has a nozzle defining structure having a fluid duct defined therein and a deflecting blade pivotally supported within the fluid duct. One of walls forming the nozzle defining structure has a wall portion adjacent the exit opening outwardly diverging in a direction downstream with respect to the direction of flow of the fluid medium through the fluid duct. Depending upon the position of the deflecting blade, the stream of fluid medium is forced to adhere to the outwardly diverging wall portion to attain a relatively wide angle of deflection.

  • Patent number: 4205597
Abstract: An air conditioner including an air intake, a blower for drawing air into the air conditioner through the air intake, a heat exchanger in the path of the air, and an air exit structure in the path of the air. The air exit structure is a plate-like sheet of rigid material having an aperture therein forming a nozzle for issuing a main stream of air as the air passes therethrough. A control chamber downstream of the nozzle develops a pressure differential in the main stream of air flowing from the nozzle as it flows between a pair of spaced opposed diverging walls to control the direction of flow of the stream. The pressure differential is developed by closing control apertures in the chamber by interceptors over the control apertures.

  • Patent number: 4148333
Abstract: A fluid diverting assembly is constituted by a structural body having a nozzle from which a main stream of fluid is issued as the fluid passes therethrough, a pair of opposed control chambers positioned adjacent the nozzle and on respective lateral sides of the stream of fluid, a pair of side walls outwardly diverging in a direction downstream of the nozzle with respect to the direction of flow of the main fluid stream, and control apertures respectively communicated to the control chambers. An interceptor mechanism is provided for alternately adjustably closing any one of the control apertures for deflecting the direction of flow of the main fluid stream issued by the nozzle.
