  • Patent number: 6899748
Abstract: A method and apparatus for removing contaminants from gas streams. A first step involves selecting a contaminant to be removed from a gas stream and determining a characteristic ionizing energy value required to selectively ionize the selected contaminant with minimal effect on other contaminants in the gas stream. A second step involves applying the characteristic ionizing energy value to the gas stream and selectively ionizing the selected contaminant. A third step involves capturing the selected contaminant after ionization.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 28, 2004
Date of Patent: May 31, 2005

  • Patent number: 6529008
Abstract: An electromagnetic induction coil includes a casing with high magnetic permeability with a magnet disposed within the casing. The magnet has a central hole. A core with high magnetic permeability is disposed within the central hole of the magnet. The core is in physical contact with the casing. A multi-loop coil of conductive wire is disposed within the central hole of the magnet encircling the core. The multi-loop coil is insulated from the magnet.

  • Patent number: 6084413
Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting rock movement. The first step involves using at least one electromagnetic induction coil as a sensor. The second step involves monitoring changes in induced electromotive force in the at least one electromagnetic induction coil over a selected time interval. This new approach is based upon changes in magnetic permeability as a result of rock movement in accordance with Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. When a plurality of these new sensors are used the speed of the rock movement may also be determined.
