  • Publication number: 20220279303
Abstract: Spatial audio is rendered at a companion device or server connected to a wearable device, where the spatial audio is rendered based on a first pose estimate of the wearable device that is estimated at the companion device or server. The rendered spatial audio is then transmitted to the wearable device. The rendered spatial audio is refined at the wearable device based on a second pose estimate of the wearable device that is estimated at the wearable device. The refined spatial audio is then provided for playback via speakers of the wearable device.

  • Patent number: 10803663
Abstract: A method for depth sensor aided estimation of virtual reality environment boundaries includes generating depth data at a depth sensor of an electronic device based on a local environment proximate the electronic device. A set of initial boundary data is estimated based on the depth data, wherein the set of initial boundary data defines an exterior boundary of a virtual bounded floor plan. The virtual bounded floor plan is generated based at least in part on the set of initial boundary data. Additionally, a relative pose of the electronic device within the virtual bounded floor plan is determined and a collision warning is displayed on a display of the electronic device based on the relative pose.

  • Publication number: 20190033989
Abstract: A method for generating virtual reality environment boundaries includes receiving, at a depth sensor of an electronic device, depth data from a local environment proximate the electronic device. Further, a set of outer boundary data is received defines an exterior boundary of a virtual bounded floor plan. A virtual bounded floor plan is generated based at least in part on the set of outer boundary data and the depth data from the local environment. Further, a relative pose of the electronic device within the virtual bounded floor plan is determined and collision warning is displayed on a display of the electronic device based on the relative pose.

  • Patent number: 8997021
Abstract: According to various embodiments of the invention, parallax and/or three-dimensional effects are added to thumbnail image displays. In at least one embodiment, such effects are applied in a manner that causes the thumbnail images to appear to respond to their display environment. For example, a parallax effect can be applied that responds to current cursor position, scroll position, scroll velocity, orientation of the display device (detected, for example, by position- and/or motion-sensing mechanisms), and/or any other environmental conditions. As another example, thumbnail images can be refocused, and/or a viewpoint for an image can be adjusted, in response to a user clicking on or tapping on particular elements within such images.

  • Publication number: 20120249550
Abstract: A system and method are provided for storing, manipulating, and/or transmitting image data, such as light field photographs and the like, in a manner that efficiently delivers different capabilities and features based on device attributes, user requirements and preferences, context, and/or other factors. Acceleration structures are provided, which enable selective use of certain types of data (also referred to as “assets”) based on device attributes such as image size, desired functionality, user preference, and/or the like. In this manner, the system and method of the present invention takes into account specific attributes and parameters in determining which data should be included, so as to optimize transmission, storage, and/or rendering of image data, including light field data, to improve efficiency and avoid waste of resources.
