  • Patent number: 9225843
Abstract: In response to a first signal, a first sound wave is output. A second sound wave is received that includes an acoustic echo of the first sound wave. In response to the second sound wave, a second signal is output that cancels an estimate of the acoustic echo. The estimate of the acoustic echo is iteratively adapted to increase a statistical independence between the first and second signals, irrespective of whether a first voice is present in the first sound wave, and irrespective of whether a second voice is present in the second sound wave.

  • Patent number: 8045661
Abstract: A system for, and method of, blind identification of multichannel finite impulse response filters. In one embodiment, the system includes: (1) a decomposition generator configured to construct, from noisy symbols containing data, a block-Hankel structured matrix and a decomposition thereof, (2) an iterative matrix re-estimator coupled to the decomposition generator and configured iteratively to re-estimate singular vectors corresponding to a scalar that satisfies the block-Hankel matrix until a sufficient convergence occurs, (3) a structured low-rank estimate matrix generator coupled to the iterative matrix re-estimator and configured to generate a block-Hankel structured low-rank estimate matrix related to the block-Hankel structured matrix and (4) an STLS channel estimator coupled to the structured low-rank estimate matrix generator and configured to obtain STLS channel estimates from the block-Hankel structured low-rank estimate matrix.

  • Patent number: 8040986
Abstract: A system comprises a wireless device that communicates across a spectrum having a plurality of sub-channels. The wireless device comprises a plurality of antennas through which the wireless device communicates with another wireless device, wherein each antenna communicates with the other wireless device via an associated communication pathway. The wireless device further comprises sub-channel power analysis logic coupled to the antennas and adapted to determine which communication pathway has the highest communication quality on a sub-channel by sub-channel basis. The wireless device still further comprises diversity selection logic coupled to the sub-channel power analysis logic and adapted to determine a weighting vector for an associated antenna based on the communication quality, wherein the weighting vector specifies a relative transmission power for each sub-channel for the associated antenna.
