  • Patent number: 10400627
Abstract: In one aspect the present subject matter is directed to a system for cooling a turbine engine. The system includes a cooling medium source, a stator vane having an internal flow passage that is in fluid communication with the cooling medium source and a turbine shroud assembly having an internal flow passage that is in fluid communication with the internal flow passage of the stator vane. The system allows for reduced peak thermal gradients between a cooling medium provided by the cooling medium source and various turbine hardware components such as the turbine shroud assembly.

  • Patent number: 10036269
Abstract: A gas turbine sealing assembly includes a first static gas turbine wall, a second static gas turbine wall, and a leaf seal having a first side and a second side. The first static gas turbine wall contacts the second side at a first position, and the second static gas turbine wall contacts the second side at a second position. A spring exerts force on the first side. The spring includes a first spring wall coupled to the first static gas turbine wall. A second spring wall extends radially outward from the first spring wall. A third spring wall extends axially away from the second spring wall. A fourth spring wall extends radially inward from the third spring wall and includes a radially inner end. The radially inner end of the fourth spring wall contacts the first side of the leaf seal between the first position and the second position.

  • Patent number: 8876042
Abstract: An assembly includes a unitary nacelle structure and an integrated fan housing for a gas turbine engine assembly. The unitary nacelle structure includes an inlet region and a fan cowl region, and is configured to at least partially circumscribe the integrated fan housing. The integrated fan housing comprises an integral composite structure and includes a fan case sized and configured for encircling a fan blade assembly of an associated gas turbine engine, a fan hub, and a plurality of fan outlet guide vanes. The unitary nacelle structure cooperates with the integrated fan housing to transfer static and dynamic loads directly to a support structure, rather than through the engine core, to minimize backbone bending.

  • Patent number: 7079957
Abstract: A system for controlling blade tip clearance in a turbine. The system includes a stator including a shroud having a plurality of shroud segments and a rotor including a blade rotatable within the shroud. An actuator assembly is positioned radially around the shroud and includes a plurality of actuators. A sensor senses a turbine parameter and generates a sensor signal representative of the turbine parameter. A modeling module generates a tip clearance prediction in response to turbine cycle parameters. A controller receives the sensor signal and the tip clearance prediction and generates at least one command signal. The actuators include at least one actuator receiving the command signal and adjusts a position of at least one of the shroud segments in response to the command signal.
