  • Publication number: 20240068602
Abstract: The present invention discloses two multilayer coolant fluid transport tube constructions, a three-layer and a two-layer design, produced by a melt co-extrusion process for electric vehicle thermal management applications. The three-layer coolant fluid transport tube presented in this invention was designed for a maximum continuous use temperature of 125 degrees Celsius, comprising a polyamide jacket, a middle adhesive layer and an impact modified polypropylene copolymer inner layer. Also presented in this invention is a two-layer coolant fluid transport tube with a maximum continuous use temperature of 105 degrees Celsius, which incorporates a polypropylene copolymer inner layer and a thermoplastic vulcanizate outer layer.

  • Publication number: 20240052954
Abstract: An article and method for forming a coated metal pipe for use as an automotive fluid transport tube including tubing formed into a circular cross sectional profile. A solvent based primer layer is applied over the tubing. One or more outer layers include a combination of a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) with impact resistant properties coextruded with a polymer, which can optionally further include a polymer reinforced with fiber not restricted to any of a glass fiber, metal fiber, ceramic fiber or carbonaceous (e.g. aramid) fiber. The polymer incorporates a Graphene or Graphene oxide powder applied over the primer layer to provide a balance of toughness and hardness.

  • Publication number: 20230364988
Abstract: A capless fuel unit having an elongated housing open at each end and defining a first and a second longitudinally spaced fluid ports. First and second door assemblies each include a flapper valve associated with a first fluid port and a second flapper valve with a second fluid port, the flapper valves being movable between open and closed positions and resiliently urged toward their respective closed positions. A pressure relief valve is at least partially contained within an interior of the flapper valves. The various plastic components of the capless unit incorporate Graphene or a Graphene-derivative for resisting hydrocarbon emission from fuel vapors escaping from the unit to the atmosphere.

  • Publication number: 20230134553
Abstract: A graphene based adsorbent material incorporated into a scrubber forming a portion of a canister or connected to a vent port of the canister in the evaporative emissions management system. The adsorbent material is specifically adsorptive of vaporized hydrocarbons for preventing bleed emissions while also providing low flow restrictions. The graphene adsorbent being provided as an activated graphene derivative and a polymer extruded in a honeycomb design pattern to provide a plurality of passageways for the flow of the vapors. The scrubber connected to the EVAP canister vent port and incorporating a scrubber element exhibiting a honeycomb extruded structure having any combination of activated graphene-derivatives, lignocellulose, charcoal, ceramic, binder and flux material.

  • Publication number: 20230133755
Abstract: An evaporative emissions control system for an automobile for reducing evaporative emissions, having an evaporative canister coupled to a fuel tank, the canister containing sorbent material capable of adsorbing hydrocarbons and selected from the group of activated Graphene-derivatives not limited to any of monolayer Graphene, few layered Graphene, Graphene oxide, reduced Graphene oxide, and functionalized Graphene. A vapor inlet on the canister is connected to the fuel tank, a purge outlet on the canister being connected to an air induction system, wherein the sorbent material adsorbs fuel vapors when the engine is not running and desorbs fuel vapors when the engine is running.
