  • Publication number: 20130108858
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for making a substrate coated with a mesoporous photochromic film, comprising: a) preparing a precursor sol of a mesoporous film comprising an inorganic precursor agent, at least one organic solvent, water, at least one pore-forming agent and one hydrophobic precursor agent bearing at least one hydrophobic group; b) depositing a film of the precursor sol onto a main surface of a substrate; c) removing the pore-forming agent from the film resulting from the previous step at a temperature ?150° C.; d) impregnating the mesoporous film resulting from step c) with a solution comprising at least one photochromic agent. In an alternative embodiment, the photochromic agent is directly introduced into the precursor sol. In an alternative embodiment of the previous alternative embodiment, the precursor sol does not comprise any hydrophobic precursor agent but the photochromic film is made hydrophobic by a treatment subsequent to its preparation.

  • Publication number: 20110305827
Abstract: The present invention relates to the use as an antisoiling coating of a porous coating comprising a polysiloxane matrix and a porous volume such that the potential filling ratio of the total volume of said coating by oleic acid is at least 25% by volume, having a porosity rate ranging from 25 to 70% by volume and having no photocatalytic properties. The antisoiling porous coating is self-cleaning, easy to clean and can be regenerated by simple washing. It is mainly intended for use in ophthalmic optics, and proves to be very effective against sebum. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, this coating has a mesoporous structure.

  • Publication number: 20090169859
Abstract: The present invention relates to an article comprising a substrate having a main surface coated with a coating, part of which at least is mesoporous and has a refractive index profile with optical function, whose variation is imposed by the mesopore content and/or the filling ratio of the mesopores. The profile may be such that the refractive index varies depending on the distance to a given axis, or such that the refractive index variation is monotone, decreasing along any axis which is perpendicular to the surface of the substrate underlying the mesoporous part of said coating and oriented away from the substrate. The present invention also relates to methods for making said article, which differ depending on the technique from which the refractive index profile is created. The invention is applicable to ophthalmic optics.
