  • Patent number: 5374687
Abstract: A pourable, liquid antisettling composition comprises at least one low molecular weight copolymer of ethylene and an alpha, beta-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid that has been neutralized with a neutralizing agent and water. The composition can be an additive in aqueous coating compositions and provides excellent pigment suspension and rheological properties to aqueous based coating and ink compositions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 28, 1993
Date of Patent: December 20, 1994
    Assignee: Rheox, Inc.
Inventors: Murray C. Cooperman, William W. Reichert
  • Patent number: 5349011
Abstract: A polyamide (or oligomeric amide) ester rheological additive especially for organic solvent-based compositions comprises the reaction product of a defined polycarboxylic acid, a diamine, an alkoxylated polyol and a capping agent. The additive exhibits excellent efficiency and ease of dispersibility and is especially effective when first predispersed in an organic solvent. Organic solvent-based compositions which may be thickened by using the rheological additive are aliphatic, aromatic, and some moderately polar solvent-based compositions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 30, 1993
Date of Patent: September 20, 1994
    Assignee: Rheox, Inc.
Inventors: William W. Reichert, Murray C. Cooperman
  • Patent number: 4975119
Abstract: The present invention relates to a liquid antisettling composition comprising at least one emulsifiable polyethylene wax, at least one salt of an alkyl hydrogen sulfate, at least one salt of a reaction product of a polyvalent inorganic acid and a fatty ester compound or a fatty acid derivative, an organic solvent and optionally, water.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4778843
Abstract: A polyamide rheological additive especially for organic solvent-based compositions which comprises the reaction product of a defined polycarboxylic acid, active hydrogen compound and capping agent. The additive exhibits excellent efficiency and dispersibility and is especially effective when first predispersed in an organic solvent. Organic solvent-based compositions which may be thickened using the rheological additive are aromatic, aliphatic and some moderately polar solvent-based compositions.

  • Patent number: 4224312
Abstract: The castor based quaternaries of the instant invention are prepared by condensing a castor fatty acid with the amino protons of a diamine containing a tertiary amino group at one end to form an intermediate product and then quaternizing the intermediate product.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 23, 1978
Date of Patent: September 23, 1980
    Assignee: NL Industries, Inc.
