  • Patent number: 7499631
Abstract: A method for converting a data stream in a first format into a data stream in a second format is provided. Each stream includes data packs in which video/audio data are stored and a control pack for use in a playback control of the stream. In the first format stream, address information, representing addresses of the data packs and not required while the stream is played back, is present and associated with the stream. In the second format stream, address information, representing addresses of the data packs and required while the stream is played back, is stored in the control pack. The method includes the steps of: acquiring the first format stream and its associated address information; generating a second control pack in the second format from a first control pack in the first format, the second control pack storing the address information acquired; and replacing the first control pack with the second control pack, thereby generating the second format stream from the first format stream.

  • Publication number: 20080056492
Abstract: A key generation section 10 generates a key K to be used for cryptographic processing, based on an encrypted key data group EK. A key information retention/selection section 20 retains Lhe generated key and an intermediate key which was obtained when generating the key, and outputs the retained key information in accordance with selection information SEL. The key information is retained, e.g., in a storage circuit within the integrated circuitry, in a form which is not recognizable as a key. A content encryption/decryption section 30 restrains the cryptographic processing result DO from being outputted during key generation. When a heading pattern is detected during the cryptographic processing of an input signal DI, a reset/input enable signal generation circuit 60 switches an input enable signal IE to a disabled state, and outputs a reset signal RST after Lhe cryptographic processing has been completed.

  • Patent number: 5953486
Abstract: A recording apparatus for recording digital signals to plural tracks formed sequentially on a tape using plural heads includes a first selector for selecting the first through n track sets, continuous tracks within the plural tracks formed on the tape. A disposer disposes the first through k separated high speed reproduction data areas to the same positions in each of the m tracks comprising the first through n track sets. A first recording unit records the same high speed reproduction data to the same track position in at least the tracks having the same azimuth within the m*k high speed reproduction data areas belonging to the same track set. A second selector selects the n+1 through n+N, each track set comprising M tracks selected from among the tracks to which the high speed reproduction data areas are not disposed. A second disposer disposes a continuous very-high speed reproduction data area to the same position in each of the M tracks forming the n+1 through n+N track sets.

  • Patent number: 5841941
Abstract: A recording and reproducing apparatus for an input encoded data stream having two different bit rates N.sub.1 and N.sub.2, where N.sub.1 <N.sub.2. The recording and reproducing apparatus includes: an input interface for outputting the input encoded data stream to two channels; recording processors, connected to the outputs of the input interface, for converting the input encoded data stream into a signal suitable for writing onto a magnetic tape by a recording head; a tape speed controller for varying the speed of the magnetic tape in accordance with the bit rates of the input encoded data stream; a reproducing head for reading the signal from the magnetic tape; reproducing processors for processing a reproduced signal; and an output interface. The input interface divides and outputs the input encoded data stream to both of the two channels when the bit rate of the input encoded data stream is N.sub.

  • Patent number: 5465158
Abstract: In a video tape recorder of the color under recording type, in which a low frequency band converted carrier chrominance signal is recorded together with an FM luminance signal, another FM modulator is provided for modulating a wide band chrominance signal. An additional head records the FM chrominance signal on at least a part of a track on which video signal has been recorded in the color under recording. In reproduction, it is checked whether the FM chrominance signal is reproduced or not for selecting the FM chrominance signal or the color under recorded carrier chrominance signal as a reproduced chrominance signal output.

  • Patent number: 5045939
Abstract: An apparatus for converting a wide screen television signal to a desired normal screen television signal includes an extraction circuit for selectively extracting a portion of the wide screen television signal corresponding to a normal screen television picture to obtain the desired normal television signal, a motion detector for detecting a motion of a picture produced by the wide screen television signal, and a control circuit for controlling the extracting circuit to extract the portion of the wide screen television signal according to a motion detection result of the motion detector. A plurality of candidate areas to be extracted from the wide screen television picture are predetermined. The motion detector detects from among the plurality areas an area in which the motion of the picture is the largest. The control circuit controls the extracting circuit to extract a portion of the wide screen television signal corresponding to the area in which the motion of the picture is the largest.
