  • Patent number: 11885850
Abstract: In accordance with at least one aspect of this disclosure, a method can include measuring a voltage across a DC link of a generator system when a generator exciter is inactive and a generator permanent magnet is active, and detecting a short or open permanent magnet generator (SOPMG) fault condition in the generator system with a DC link monitor operatively connected to measure the voltage across the DC link.

  • Patent number: 11485514
Abstract: A ram air turbine (RAT) system can include a generator configured to be turned by a RAT and to output an alternating current (AC) power, a generator control unit (GCU) configured to control an output of the generator, a rectifying module configured to rectify the AC power into a direct current (DC) power, and a DC load configured to receive the DC power from the rectifying module. The DC load can be operatively connected to the GCU to provide feedback from the DC load to the GCU. The GCU can be configured to control the output of the generator as a function of the feedback to prevent stalling of the RAT and/or doorbelling current and/or voltage in the system caused by disconnecting the generator from the DC load.

  • Patent number: 11038450
Abstract: A method of predicting a health status of an integrated drive generator (IDG) includes determining an effective deviation across a plurality of IDG output frequencies for a given IDG operation period. The method includes correlating the effective deviation to an IDG capability to determine a health of the IDG. A system for predicting a health status of an integrated drive generator (IDG) includes an IDG and a generator control unit (GCU) operatively connected to the IDG to determine a plurality of IDG output frequencies for a given IDG operation period. The system includes a central processing unit (CPU) operatively connected to the GCU to receive the IDG output frequencies therefrom. The CPU is configured and adapted to determine an effective deviation across at least some of the plurality of IDG output frequencies for the given IDG operation period, and correlate the effective deviation to an IDG capability to determine a health of the IDG.
