  • Patent number: 7350950
Abstract: A safety device comprising a housing, an extendable tube located in the housing, and a light source for illuminating the extendable tube. The extendable tube is translucent and may be extended from a first position to a second position.

  • Patent number: 7114525
Abstract: Method and apparatus for eliminating turbulence-induced noise in a pulsation-absorbing flexible hose, as in a hydraulic power steering system containing a pressure fluid-feeding pump and a steering gear operated by the pressure fluid discharged from the pump. The hose has a restrictor positioned in the hose bore, and the restrictor has a flow-through bore of smaller diameter than that of the adjacent wall of the hose bore. The flow-through bore has a venturi tube cross section. The restrictor venturi inlet, throat and outlet are designed so as to efficiently conduct fluid therethrough by matching the characteristics of the fluid, the operational pressures, fluid density and other system parameters such that the venturi operates below the lower critical value of the Reynolds number of fluid flow through the restrictor to thereby minimize or eliminate fluid turbulence in the restrictor outlet and/or immediately downstream thereof.

  • Patent number: 7025126
Abstract: A conduit assembly for transferring heated fluid from a pump to a heat exchanger and to return cooled fluid from the heat exchanger to the pump is disclosed. The conduit assembly includes a flexible inner conduit disposed within a relatively rigid conduit. The heated fluid travels through the flexible inner conduit from the pump to the heat exchanger and the cooled fluid returns to the pump in the space between the outer diameter of the flexible inner conduit and the inner diameter of the rigid conduit. The conduit assembly includes a fluid splitter nipple and a fluid splitter body to split the incoming and outgoing fluid into the inner and outer conduits. The relatively warmer fluid from the pump is exposed to the temperature of the fluid passing simultaneously through the outer conduit, rather than being exposed to the ambient environmental conditions as in conventional hoses. This Abstract is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims.

  • Patent number: 6848476
Abstract: A tuning cable assembly comprising a reinforced tube, a tuning cable placed within said reinforced tube, where the tuning cable is comprised of a thermoset material or a cross-linked thermoplastic material, and a narrow annular cavity formed between the inner surface of the reinforced tube and the outer surface of the tuning cable. It is emphasized that this abstract is provided to comply with the rules requiring an abstract that will allow a searcher or other reader to quickly ascertain the subject matter of the technical disclosure. This abstract is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims.

  • Patent number: 5044671
Abstract: A hose coupling assembly for use particularly in an automotive air conditioning system, or other system requiring the effective sealing of a refrigerant over extended periods of time, comprising a hose having an inner liner of thermoplastic material and being maintained in compression by a swaged sleeve over a fitting having a primary sealing element in the form of a resilient O-ring and a plurality of locking grooves into which the thermoplastic liner is to be cold-formed to preclude the possibility of the thermoplastic liner flowing during operation at elevated operating temperatures and to provide a secondary seal at all operating temperatures to which the coupling is exposed. The components, particularly the O-ring and fitting elements, being seized relative to one another to minimize flow of the inner liner at elevated operating temperatures and to maintain the O-ring as a live seal under all operating conditions.
