The upright vacuum cleaner is provided with a handle that is hinged at a pivot point to enable the handle to rotate relative to the cleaner body. A locking unit locks and releases the handle in at least one user-desired position.

Abstract: A suction apparatus that sucks in air laden with dust and/or foreign substance while moving along a surface to be cleaned and a cleaning device having the same are provided. The suction apparatus includes a suction body, a rotary brush rotatably installed in the suction body, and brushing the dust and/or foreign substance of the surface to be cleaned in rotation, a power transmitting belt disposed in a belt mounting part formed in the suction body, and transmitting a rotating force of motor installed adjacent to the suction body to the rotary brush, and an air circulation part sending air in the belt mounting part to outside to remove a heat produced at the power transmitting belt. The air circulation part removes the heat produced at the power transmitting belt in the belt mounting part.

Abstract: A suction port assembly for use in a vacuum cleaner is foldable so that it can clean a surface being cleaned in close contact. Accordingly, the cleaner can easily clean the cleaning surface even with a slope or angle, while maintaining a suction efficiency of the cleaner constantly. Additionally, damage to the suction port assembly due to collision with the cleaning surface can be avoided.

Abstract: A vacuum cleaner comprises a suction port assembly having a suction inlet, a rotatable drum, a driving pulley that drives the rotatable drum, a driven pulley that is driven by a motor and a free-wheeling idler pulley that can rotate irrespective of the driven pulley. A drive belt between the motor and the driven pulley can be moved off the driven pulley and onto the free-wheeling idler pulley. When the drive belt from the motor rides on the idler pulley, the rotatable drum is disconnected from the motor, allowing it to stop. The drive belt is move onto and off of the idler pulley by a user-operable two-position guide member. In a first position, the drive belt is connected to the driven pulley. In the second position, the drive belt is directed onto the free-wheeling idler pulley. A user of the vacuum cleaner can selectively activate and deactivate the rotatable drum during cleaning thereby saving power, reducing wear on the rotating drum and its bristles and reducing noise.

The dust agitator includes a dust agitator body, a receiving hole for a bristle member being configured along the dust agitator body, and a bristle member comprising a plurality of first and second bristle members of varying thickness being embedded in the receiving hole.
