  • Patent number: 5281955
Abstract: An apparatus and method for monitoring operation and recording status of at least one battery component of an uninterruptable power supply is provided. Physical parameters of a battery are sensed and stored upon deviation from preselected limits. In addition, the present value of the physical parameters are displayed. Back-up power is supplied upon the interruption of utility power. Furthermore, an operator is signaled with an alarm when utility power is interrupted or there is deviation from preselected battery operation limits.

  • Patent number: 4640589
Abstract: A microscope illuminator containing an incandescent point source of illumination, an aspheric lens with heat absorbing characteristics defining an optical path for the illumination, a cut-off filter and a rotatable dichroic interference filter capable of being moved into the optical path of the illumination and capable of polarizing light as its angle of incidence with respect to the optical path is varied, a condensing lens and a rotatable mirror for receiving the polarized illumination from the dichroic filter and altering the optical path to coincide with the optical axis of a microscope. Additional filters are optionally provided.

  • Patent number: 4415410
Abstract: A method of forming battery plates or electrodes from tetrabasic lead sulfate includes the step of adding a lead peroxide such as lead dioxide in powdered form to the tetrabasic lead sulfate for making the paste to be applied to the plate or electrode supporting grids. The addition of this lead peroxide allows forming the plates or electrodes in an electrolyte of high specific gravity, and in reduced time, with increased efficiency and reduced energy consumption. Such battery plates or electrodes may thus be formed in their final containers or jars, significantly reducing the practical problems of disposing of used forming electrolyte solution.
