  • Patent number: 10367799
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for determining an authentication attempt threshold. Authentication systems often have predetermined authentication attempt thresholds that may not be sufficient for some users and do not necessarily provide any increased security. Systems and methods provided for determining an authentication thresholds described herein may determine the authentication threshold based on certain factors in a user's authentication attempt history that may provide information about a user's probability of a successful authentication to provide additional security for users more likely to successfully authenticate while providing additional assistance to users who may be less likely to successfully authenticate.

  • Patent number: 6885664
Abstract: This invention describes a method for transmitting and forwarding packets over a switching network using time information. The network switches maintain a common time reference, which is obtained either from an external source (such as GPS—Global Positioning System) or is generated and distributed internally. The time intervals are arranged in simple periodicity and complex periodicity (like seconds and minutes of a clock). A data packet that arrives to an input port is switched to an output port based on its order or time position in the time interval in which it arrives at the switch. The time interval duration can be longer than the time duration required for transmitting a data packet, in which case the exact position of a data packet in its forwarding time interval is predetermined. This invention provides congestion-free data packet switching for data packets for which capacity in their corresponding forwarding links and time intervals is reserved in advance.

  • Publication number: 20040117290
Abstract: A system and automated method operate to evaluate a transaction request. A plurality of objects associated with the transaction request are identified, each of the plurality of objects including a set of the object attributes, each object attribute representing a respective attribute of the transaction request. A set of metric functions, each associated with a respective metric of a plurality of metrics, is applied against the sets of the object attributes to generate an object score for each object. The object scores for each of the plurality of objects are irrigated to generate a request score indicative of an overall evaluation of the transaction request relative to an expectation for the transaction request.

  • Publication number: 20040117235
Abstract: A system and automated method operate to recommend a response to a transaction request. An original request score for the transaction request is calculated, the original request score indicating an evaluation of the transaction request according to a plurality of metrics. A target score for the transaction request is determined, the target score indicating an expectation for the transaction request according to the plurality of metrics. A modified transaction request is generated, based upon the transaction request, having a modified request score corresponding more closely to the target score than the original request score of the transaction request.

  • Patent number: 6671676
Abstract: A method and apparatus for continuously settling multi-sided competition for allocation of multi-attribute time-variable resources whose value that change over time or which expire if not allocated prior to a predetermined time, comprises applying a time-dependent cost optimization function to current and subsequent settlement periods. The invention is applicable to diverse fields, such as allocating professionals' time, competitive selling of perishable goods, allocating production capacity, and committing media space. The invention is useful in such fields as construction, information technology services, selling of perishable foods, production of electronic circuit boards, and selling of television advertisements.

  • Patent number: 6385198
Abstract: This invention describes a method for controlling the creation of data paths of predefined capacity that is needed for timely forwarding of packets in networks where the switches maintain a common time reference. The invention describes a signaling controller that is responsive to a setup request by computing a route of switches for data transmission, and a transmission schedule, which consists of predetermined time frames in which the switches along the route may forward packets of said setup request. The invention describes a switch signaling controller, which operates in every switch and which sends and is responsive to messages regarding reserving and releasing bandwidth on the switch's ports. The invention describes a protocol by which end-stations, gateways, signaling controller, and switch signaling controllers communicate to establish paths of specified capacities; and algorithms for processing signaling messages and finding transmission schedule in the network.

  • Patent number: 6272132
Abstract: The invention describes a method for transmitting and forwarding packets over a packet switching network. The switches of the network maintain a common time reference, which is obtained either from an external source (such as GPS—Global Positioning System) or is generated and distributed internally. The time intervals are arranged in simple periodicity and complex periodicity (like seconds and minutes of a clock). A packet that arrives to an input port of a switch, is switched to an output port based on specific routing information in the packet header (e.g., IPv4 destination address in the Internet, VCI/VPI labels in ATM). Each switch along a route from a source to a destination forwards packets in periodic time intervals that are predefined using the common time reference. The time interval duration can be longer than the time duration required for transmitting a packet, in which case the exact position of a packet in the time interval is not predetermined.
