  • Publication number: 20210309982
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a yeast strain capable of fermenting high maltose syrups into ethanol in the presence of glucose. In commercially important fuel ethanol yeast strains, the presence of glucose prevents robust maltose fermentation. This invention causes enhanced co-fermentation of maltose and glucose in strains otherwise identical to commercial fuel ethanol yeast strains.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 19, 2019
    Publication date: October 7, 2021
Inventors: Mark Goebl, Joshua Heyen, Nadaraj Palaniappan, Ross Cocklin, Kathryn Houin, Matthew Kelker
  • Patent number: 11078501
Abstract: Disclosed herein are materials and methods for the production of high concentrations of ethanol from plant starch material broken down into disaccharide and trisaccharide sugars such as maltose, isomaltose, and maltotriose from uncooked starch. Herein is also described use of a yeast strain capable of fermenting high maltose syrups into ethanol without the need to convert disaccharides or trisaccharides into glucose using exogenous glucoamylases.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 28, 2018
Date of Patent: August 3, 2021
    Assignee: Xylogenics, Inc.
Inventors: Joshua W. Heyen, Mark G. Goebl, Kathryn A. Houin, Matthew S. Kelker, Nadaraj Palaniappan

  • Patent number: 9631195
Abstract: This disclosure concerns methods for producing a spinosyn producing host cell that comprises modifying a nucleic acid molecule encoding for spinactin by introducing, mutating, deleting, replacing or inactivating a nucleic acid sequence encoding one or more activities of a polypeptide encoded by the nucleic acid molecule. Methods for producing a modified Saccharopolyspora spinosa organism or strain are also disclosed.
