  • Patent number: 10732140
Abstract: A portable analytical device includes a housing, a measuring facility and a processor in the housing, and an electrical connector having one end electrically connected to the processor and an opposite end operatively connectable to an external electronic device. The measuring facility is configured to analyze a change in a test element resulting from receipt thereon of a liquid sample of a body fluid and to generate measuring values resulting from the analysis. A memory has instructions stored therein executable by the processor to process the measuring values to generate analytical measuring data based thereon and to output the generated analytical measuring data onto the electrical connector. The analytical device does not include an intrinsic user interface for displaying the generated analytical measuring data. Display of the generated analytical measuring data is implemented exclusively by the external electronic device having received the generated analytical measuring data via the electrical connector.

  • Patent number: 9816956
Abstract: A portable analytical device includes a housing, a measuring facility and a processor in the housing, and an electrical connector coupled to the housing and having one end electrically connected to the processor and an opposite end extending outwardly from the housing. The measuring facility is configured to analyze an optical or electrochemical change in the test element having received a liquid sample of the body fluid and to generate measuring values resulting from the analysis. A memory has stored therein software at least a portion of which is executable by the processor to process the measuring values to produce analytical measuring data taking into account calibration values. The electrical connector may be a male universal serial bus (USB) electrical connector, a Type-A USB electrical connector or a mini-USB electrical connector having electrical connections for electrical power, ground, data and ID.

  • Patent number: 9149215
Abstract: A portable analytical device is provided for analysis of a component of a body fluid. A measuring facility within the device may carry out the analysis on a test element inserted therein. The test element may contain a reagent that reacts with a liquid sample of the body fluid when the test element is contacted thereby to produce a change that is characteristic of the analysis. A processor may process measuring values determined by the measuring facility to yield analytical measuring data taking into account calibration values. A standardized, wire-based computer interface may be provided on the analytical device via which the analytical device can be operated by a computer, the analytical measuring data can be transmitted from the analytical device to the computer, the analytical device can be supplied with electrical power by the computer, and the analytical device can provide software to be read-out by the computer.

  • Publication number: 20070152683
Abstract: An electronic device for analysis of a body fluid comprises a housing defining an opening therein, a measuring facility and at least one electrical circuit arranged inside the housing, and a multi-wire connector carried by the housing. The measuring facility is configured to receive a test element therein via the opening and to produce measuring values relating to a sample of the body fluid received on the test element. The at least one electrical circuit is configured to process the measuring values to yield analytical data corresponding to a component of the sample of the body fluid. The multi-wire connector has at least one wire defining a voltage supply input to the electronic device, and is configured to be connected to a mating connector of an external electronic device with the at least one wire configured to receive a supply voltage from the external electronic device.

  • Patent number: 6560584
Abstract: A method and apparatus for prediction of system reliability is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of: (a) identifying the minimal path set of components which must function for the system to function; (b) constructing a minimal path set matrix by representing the minimal path sets as binary numbers in the matrix; (c) constructing a design matrix from OR operations on sets of columns of the minimal path set matrix whose results are appended to the original minimal path set matrix; (d) constructing a vector of ones having signs related to the position in the vector; and (e) calculating the system reliability from the design matrix, vector of ones and the reliabilities of each of the components of the system. The method of the present invention also determines the structure function of the system from the design matrix, vector of ones, and the states of the components of the system. The apparatus for performing the method of the present invention comprises a programmable processor.
