  • Patent number: 8363599
Abstract: A method and an IP-SM-GW for providing an interworking service between CPM and SMS are provided. The method comprises the steps of receiving a chat session invitation, in a IP-SM-GW, the chat session invitation originating from a CPM UE and being sent toward an SMS enabled UE. Assigning an identifier with the chat session in the IP-SM-GW and sending an invitation acknowledgement from the IP-SM-GW to the CPM UE. Receiving a message containing data, within the chat session, in the IP-SM-GW, from the CPM UE and being sent to the SMS enabled UE, formatting the message into an SMS message, wherein the identifier assigned to the chat session is inserted as a sender of the SMS message to ensure that an SMS response is sent back to the IP-SM-GW and forwarding the formatted SMS message to the SMS enabled UE.

  • Patent number: 7561579
Abstract: The invention relates a method for providing a level of service for a Mobile Terminal (MT) in a packet data telecommunications network. The further method receives at the MT from a proxy server a request message for requesting the quality of service for a session between the MT and the proxy server. The method generates, based on a proxy server IP address received during a registration of the MT at the proxy server, a token for correlating accounting information and inform the proxy server of the quality of service to be applied to packet data sent on to be sent during the session, wherein the token includes the proxy server IP address and a session identity parameter and responsive to the reception of the request from the IMS proxy server, sending a response message including the token to the proxy server.

  • Publication number: 20030214958
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for linking control and bearer for a multimedia session in an ALL-IP network, and to an Access Gateway (AGW) and an Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA) server therefore. For doing so, a Mobile IP Request message is received at the AGW from a terminal. The AGW requests authentication of the terminal at the AAA server. The AAA server allocates a Proxy Session Control Manager (P-SCM) for the terminal. Then, the AAA sends an identity of the P-SCM to the AGW, and stores the identity of the allocated P-SCM for the terminal.

  • Patent number: 6567657
Abstract: A method and system for automatically adjusting charges to a pre-paid account in a telecommunications or distributed processing network following a failure in the network. After a service that is chargeable against the pre-paid account is initiated in the network, a failure in the network is detected. The failure prevents a charging node from receiving event data relating to the pre-paid account. After recovery from the failure, a message is sent to the charging node containing service status information. The charging node adjusts the account balance in accordance with the service status information.

  • Patent number: 6226517
Abstract: A home location register (HLR) and method of routing a call directed to a portable directory number in a radio telecommunications network. The network includes an originating mobile switching center (O-MSC) and a Number Portability Database (NPDB). The O-MSC first sends a Location Request (LOCREQ) message to the HLR requesting a routing number. The LOCREQ message includes a dialed directory number. The HLR determines whether a routing number is assigned to the dialed directory number. If not, the HLR sends a Number Portability Request (NPREQ) message to the NPDB and includes the dialed directory number. A location routing number (LRN) assigned to the dialed directory number is then retrieved from the NPDB and sent to the HLR. The HLR forwards the LRN to the O-MSC, which then routes the call to the LRN.

  • Patent number: 6161017
Abstract: A method of routing a call directed to a portable directory number in a radio telecommunications network having an originating mobile switching center (O-MSC), a home location register (HLR), and a Number Portability Database (NPDB). The O-MSC determines whether to send a Location Request (LOCREQ) message to the HLR for a routing number, or to send a Number Portability Request (NPREQ) message to the NPDB for a location routing number (LRN). The determination may be based on operator preference, a default preference, or statistics indicating that either the HLR or the NPDB is more likely to return a routing number. The O-MSC then attempts to obtain a routing number from the determined destination. If an error message is returned, the O-MSC attempts to obtain a routing number from the alternate destination. Upon receipt of a routing number, the O-MSC routes the call.
