  • Patent number: 7934931
Abstract: An attachment structure is provided for attaching a stator member of a rotating connector to a bracket fitted into a steering column while being positioned. The bracket is provided with engaging recess grooves having first and second reference surfaces each orthogonal to each other, which are arranged along the axial direction of a steering shaft, and the stator member is provided with engaging protrusions respectively inserted into the corresponding engaging recess grooves. An elastic tongue piece for elastically urging the engaging protrusions on the first reference surface is formed in the engaging recess groove. Elastic tongue pieces for elastically urging the engaging protrusions on the second reference surfaces are formed on the engaging protrusions.

  • Publication number: 20090176393
Abstract: A rotary connector includes a stator that includes an outer cylindrical part, a rotor that includes an inner cylindrical part and is rotatably supported by the stator, three or more flat cables that are received in an annular space formed between the outer and inner cylindrical parts while being reversely wound on the way, and a holder that is rotatably disposed in the annular space and includes three or more openings through which reversed portions of the flat cables individually pass. The width of one opening in a circumferential direction is set to be smaller than that of each of the other openings in the circumferential direction. The holder is driven by a force from the flat cable that passes through the narrow opening. The bending strength of the driving side flat cable is set to be higher than that of each of the other flat cables.

  • Patent number: 5944544
Abstract: A rotary connector including a fixed housing 1 equipped with an outer cylindrical wall 6, a movable housing 2 provided with an inner cylindrical wall 7, and two flat cables 3, 4 housed in a storage section 8 defined between the fixed housing 1 and the movable housing 2 and wound in a manner of inverting their winding direction halfway. Both end portions of each of the flat cables 3, 4 are fixed to the circumferential surfaces of the outer cylindrical wall 6 and the inner cylindrical wall 7. Cable fetching sections 7a, 7b for taking out the flat cables 3, 4 from the inner cylindrical wall 7 are disposed in substantially 180-degree opposed relation to each other, and a movable side joint section 12 is provided in the movable housing 2 to gather up the separated flat cables 3, 4 in one place. One end portions of the flat cables 3, 4 are led out through the movable side joint section 12 to the exterior of the movable housing 2.
