    Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for inspecting the appearance of a can for a secondary battery, which can obtain an image of the appearance of the can for the secondary battery and determine whether there is a defect. The apparatus for inspecting the appearance of a can for a secondary battery according to the disclosure obtains lateral images of a plurality of cans at once, and generates the lateral image for one can by extracting an area where each can is captured, thereby speeding up the inspection. Further, the lateral images of the can are obtained with light emitted in various combinations, thereby having an effect on improving the accuracy in defect diagnosis.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a carbon nanotube fiber having improved physical properties and a method for manufacturing the same. The method according to the present disclosure comprises the steps of: spinning carbon nanotubes with a purity of 90% by weight or more to obtain a first carbon nanotube fiber; and heat-treating the first carbon nanotube fiber at 500 to 3,000° C. under an inert gas atmosphere to obtain a second carbon nanotube fiber, wherein the second carbon nanotube fiber has a density of 1.0 to 2.5 g/cm3.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure pertain to electrodes that include a plurality of vertically aligned carbon nanotubes and germanium associated with the vertically aligned carbon nanotubes. The electrodes may also include a substrate (e.g., copper foil) and a carbon layer (e.g., graphene film). In some embodiments, the carbon layer may be positioned between the substrate and the vertically aligned carbon nanotubes. In some embodiments, the electrodes may be in the form of a graphene-carbon nanotube hybrid material that includes: a graphene film; and vertically aligned carbon nanotubes covalently linked to the graphene film. In some embodiments, the electrodes of the present disclosure serve as cathodes or anodes in an energy storage device.     Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure pertain to methods of forming a polymer composite by exposing a solution that includes nanomaterials (e.g., functionalized graphene nanoribbons) and cross-linkable polymer components (e.g., thermoset polymers and monomers) to a microwave source, where the exposing results in the curing of the cross-linkable polymer component in the presence of the nanomaterial to form the polymer composite. The solution may be exposed to a microwave source in a geological formation such that the formed polymer composite becomes embedded with the geological formation and thereby enhances the stability of the geological formation.
