  • Publication number: 20230044611
Abstract: An implant delivery device suitable for delivery of breast implants features a reusable design that can be autoclaved to sterilize between uses. External fluid pressure is selectively delivered to a housing with the implant inside and can be regulated by the surgeon. The application of fluid pressure can be paused with the already applied pressure retained in the housing giving mechanical advantages for easier force application by the surgeon for enhanced control of the position of the implant within the housing and as it exits the outlet of the housing. The housing can be transparent to aid in observing the implant position and orientation as it moves through the housing. The outlet tip can be slant cut to allow for a fixed opening of the incision before delivering the implant to the surgical site. The housing cover is configured for rapid attachment with a seal that is amenable for autoclaving.

  • Patent number: 9592148
Abstract: An endoluminal occluding device consisting of a conical-shaped structure which is attached to a threaded central tubular element is capable of occluding a body lumen immediately after placement. When deployed within a body lumen, such as a fallopian tube, the conical-shaped structure extends radially outward from the central tubular element, thereby acutely occluding the body lumen, and, in the case of the fallopian tubes, preventing conception. As the acute occlusion device is being implanted into a body lumen, it is rotated, as the screw threads, which embed into the body lumen wall, advance the device within the body lumen to the desired located. Once implanted and deployed into a body lumen, the acute occlusion device provides immediate occlusion of the body lumen. A proximal anchor prevents the endoluminal device from migrating into the body lumen once it has been deployed.

  • Patent number: 8465551
Abstract: This invention relates to a temporary indwelling prostatic stent which provides a passage for urine through the prostatic urethra and which enable the patient to void the bladder at will. This temporary prostatic stent consists of a coiled or braided made out of metal or plastic section which spans the prostatic urethra, wings composed of memory alloy allowing an anchoring means in the bladder, and an anchoring means below the external sphincter, and a retrieval string to facilitate removal of the stent from the patient.

  • Publication number: 20120239006
Abstract: An external control valve such as for an indwelling urethral catheter allows for selectively controlled urination via manual manipulation. The external valve is actuated by palpation as the patient compresses a proximal portion toward a distal portion of the valve. The valve includes a hollow stem having a bore in the wall thereof that is kept closed through the use of a biasing spring. Once the spring is compressed by the patient, bore is positioned within an opening in the distal portion, allowing urine to flow out of an opening in the proximal end of the valve.

  • Publication number: 20120239070
Abstract: A cutting needle assembly for making a percutaneous incision in a living body such as that required for supra-pubic catheterization. The cutting needle of the assembly consists of a hollow beveled tip needle shaft with a surgical blade suitably attached thereto at a distance proximal from the beveled tip, the blade extending radially outward from the needle shaft and extending along a length thereof, for use in creating cuts in tissue adjacent the needle to provide an opening of larger size than the needle puncture for the insertion of other medical instruments including dilators and catheters.

  • Patent number: 8211004
Abstract: A support device suitable for urethral support is adjustable for length post operatively. An elongated body has at least one bellows and a line going through a passage in the elongated body. The elongated body is supported in the patient and the line is adjustable by balloon inflation or rotation of a drum. The amount of support can be changed postoperatively using an instrument inserted through the skin with a local anesthetic or even from outside the skin with no surgical intervention. The bellows changes length when adjustments are made.

  • Publication number: 20100292641
Abstract: A catheter described is a balloon angioplasty catheter either of Over the Wire design or the Rapid Exchange design and has an expansible sleeve over the balloon. The expansible sleeve is porous and is able to absorb large quantities of fluid and fluids containing anti-proliferative drugs or other bioactive agents. The porous sleeve also expands along with the balloon when the balloon is inflated making the porous sleeve in contact with the inner wall of the affected artery or body cavity. The pressure in the balloon can be increased or pulsed, using a piezoelectric transducer, to enhance the flow of the drug from the porous membrane into the vessel wall. The porous membrane can be left in contact for an extended time periods as the catheter contains an extra lumen to provide blood perfusion distal to the balloon. For those lesions necessitating extended drug delivery an additional lumen is provided to supply additional medicines to the lesions.
