Abstract: The present invention relates to 5-benzylhexanol-2 and a perfume composition comprising the same. The perfume composition according to the present invention has a floral scent, high stability and, in the mixture system of a product, excellent scent lasting property.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a perfume base composition comprising a carrier and a benzyl-substituted cyclohexanol having formula (1), wherein the dashed line denotes an optional double bond and the benzyl group is in the 2-, 3- or 4-position of the cyclohexanol ring, with the proviso that the benzyl group is in the 4-position when a double bond is present in the cyclohexanol ring. The composition has not only a well-balanced fragrance but also excellent retentivity of fragrance.

Abstract: A 1-(2,6-dimethylphenyloxy)-2-alkanol of formula (1): ##STR1## wherein R is an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and perfume compositions containing the alkanol having an intense woody note, and are useful as fragrance-imparting ingredients for various compositions, particularly in the cosmetic field.

Abstract: A 2-(alkyl-cyclohexyl)-1-propanol is disclosed. The compound is represented by formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 individually represent a group selected from the members consisting of methyl-, ethyl-, n-propyl-, i-propyl-, t-butyl-, and sec-butyl groups, provided that the total carbon atoms of the R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 groups are 4 to 7; either R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 is a hydrogen atom, the other being a cyclohexyl group; or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 together form a hexamethylene ring together with 2 carbon atoms in the cyclohexane ring. The compound possesses a long-lasting, woody, floral odor, and can be widely used as perfumery materials such as perfumes, soaps, shampoos, aromatic goods, and detergents.

Abstract: Disclosed is a perfumery composition comprising a 2-cyclohexylpropionic acid or its derivative represented by the following formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms, or an alkenyl group having 2-4 carbon atoms.The compounds have a wide variety of odors and a wide application as perfumery compositions such as high-grade perfumery compositions, perfumes, soaps, shampoos, rinses, detergents, cosmetics, sprays, room fragrances, and the like.

Abstract: 2-Cyclohexylpropanal derivatives are disclosed. The derivatives are represented by the following formula (I): ##STR1## wherein P is a hydrogen atom and Q represents a group --CH.dbd.N--OH or a group --CH(OR).sub.2, wherein each R represents a lower alkyl group or two R's together form a lower alkylene group which may have a lower alkyl substituent, or P and Q together form a group ##STR2## wherein R' is a lower alkyl group. The compounds possess floral, fruity, or green odors and are useful for preparing perfume compositions.

Abstract: A novel 1,1-dimethyl-3-hydroxymethylindane represented by formula (I) is disclosed. ##STR1## A perfumery composition comprising the same is also disclosed.The compound represented by formula (I) of the present invention possesses a lasting floral, fruity, herbal, and woody odor based on a rosy tone. The perfumery compositions comprising Compound (I) can widely be used as a perfurmery material for perfumes, soaps, shampoos, room flavors, detergents, and the like.

Abstract: Indane derivatives useful as fragrance-imparting components are disclosed. The represented indane derivatives by the formula (I), ##STR1## wherein ring A is a benzene or cyclohexane ring and R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms, or an alkanoyl group having 1-6 carbon atoms, provided that when ring A is benzene, R.sup.1 is a group other than hydrogen atom.

Abstract: A reformed vetiverol comprising 40% by weight or more of khusimol and 10% by weight or less of isovalencenol is disclosed. The vetiverol, containing a small amount of isovalencenol and a large amount of khusimol imparts a milder and more elegant odor than conventional vetiver oils or vetiverols. The reformed vetiverol can be prepared by a process comprising: esterifying alcohol components in a vetiver oil or a vetiverol, heating the esterified vetiver oil or a vetiverol to thermally decompose isovalencenol esters, hydrolyzing the remaining esters into alcohols, and separating the formed alcohols.

Abstract: A perfume base composition containing 2-cyclohexylpropanal is disclosed. 2-Cyclohexylpropanal can be prepared by subjecting 2-cyclohexylpropanol to liquid-phase dehydrogenation.

Abstract: The invention provides derivatives of bornane-3-spiro-1'-cyclopentane with woody note scent useful as a base component in perfumery formulations which comprises those having a substituting group selected from a methoxyl, ethoxyl, formyloxyl and acetoxyl groups or two of substituting groups being either a hydroxyl group and a methyl group or a hydroxyl group and an ethyl group at the 2-position synthesized by any of the reactions of borane-3-spiro-1'-cyclopentan-2--ol or bornane-3-spiro-1'-cyclopentan-2-one with any of the reagents selected in accordance with the substituting group(s) to be introduced.The invention also provides perfumery compositions containing the above.
